Old Globe Unveils Photo Exhibit Celebrating Its 75th Anniversary

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the opening of a permanent exhibit of photos in celebration of The Old Globe's 75th anniversary. Located in the Karen and Donald Cohn Education Center and the Old Globe Theatre lobby, the exhibit uses photographs and graphics to present images of the Globe's 75 years including the many artists who have worked both on and off the stage. The exhibit is comprised of four parts: 'Bringing Art to Life,' 'Lineage of the Globe,' 'Artists of the Globe' and 'History of the Globe.' Curated and designed by Llance Bower, the exhibit includes more than 150 images, custom wall-mounted illustrations, motion-activated digital picture frames and lenticular printing that allows images to change when viewed from different angles.

Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced an Open House event that begins the Globe's year-long 75th Anniversary celebration. The free event will take place on Sunday, June 13 between 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and feature performances, backstage tours, costume displays, sword fighting demonstrations, bagpipes and Elizabethan dances. Presiding over the Open House will be Queen Elizabeth - played by Old Globe Associate Artist Marion Ross.

Executive Producer Lou Spisto has announced that due to unforeseen conflicts with Roger Rees' schedule, The Old Globe's upcoming production of What You Will has been replaced with Golda's Balcony starring four-time Tony Award nominee Tovah Feldshuh. Written by William Gibson and supervised by Scott Schwartz, Golda's Balcony earned Feldshuh a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress, and is the longest running one-woman show in Broadway history. Golda's Balcony will runin the Old Globe Theatre April 28 - May 30. Previews run April 28 - May 1. Opening night is Saturday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are currently available to subscribers only. William Roesch Named Associate Artist of The Old Globe

Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto named William Roesch an Associate Artist of The Old Globe at a ceremony held on May 24. He is the 53rd artist to receive the prestigious honor which recognizes his unique contribution to the institution. Roesch both directed and acted at the Globe for more than 20 years and served as Associate Artistic Director from 1962 to 1969.

Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto announces that the memorial service honoring Founding Director of The Old Globe, Craig Noel, on Monday, May 24 at 7:00 p.m. will now be held at the historic Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park. The memorial, 'Celebrating the Theatrical Legacy of Craig Noel,' was originally scheduled to be held in the Old Globe Theatre. Due to the size of the response, the event has been moved to the larger outdoor venue. Following the service, a reception will be held on the theater's Copley Plaza, a short walk from the Pavilion. The memorial service is free and open to all.
