On Monday, October 29, Jim Caruso's Cast Party, Birdland's 'extreme' open mic, was proud to present a new monthly segment called MENTOR MONDAYS, which pairs up-and-coming singers and composers with established artists to create a featured performance for the historic Birdland stage. For the premiere segment, producer Trevor McQueen paired composer Eric Dietz, a recent Carnegie Mellon University graduate with one of the current stars of Big Fish, Kirsten Scott. Scott premiered a new Dietz composition called 'No Good,' with Matt Aument at the piano. Scroll down for photos from the concert!

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Announces Holiday Concert Series

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is always proud to bring live music into the lives of its community, and the coming holiday season will be no different. From Pops to Gospel and Celtic Woman, to the family-favorite Kid's Christmas and traditional Messiah and "Christmas with the ASO," there is a live holiday music experience for everyone. Seven holiday programs will make up this year's 2013 Coca-Cola Holiday Concerts series, December 5-31, 2013.

Goodnight Moon Reopened at Glen Echo Park with Added Performances

After 19 total cancelled performances and a loss of over $60,000, Adventure Theatre MTC has reopened and extended Goodnight Moon, recommended for all ages. An extension through November 3 has been added for this production as well as 7pm and 4:30pm all weekend show dates to accommodate ticketed patrons. A 501c3, Adventure Theatre MTC receives no federal funding, but is located on National Park Grounds in historicGlen Echo Park.

Lorna's Pink Party, the first of two benefit nights hosted by entertainment legend LORNA LUFT and featuring her special guest LIZA MINNELLI, played to a sold-out crowd at New York City's Birdland last evening. Along with a second appearance scheduled for October 21st, both evenings combined raised total of $120,000 to support the two charities.

The word "iconic" is bandied about with frequency these days, but last night's premiere installment of "Lorna's Pink Party" at Birdland was the happy scene for several recreations of historic showbiz moments. Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly kicks off his 11th Pops season with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in The Streisand Songbook with Ann Hampton Callaway tonight, October 10 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore, Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12 at 8 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, and Sunday, October 13 at 3 p.m. at the Meyerhoff. Singer-songwriter Ann Hampton Callaway will sing some of Barbra Streisand's biggest hits, including favorites from Broadway musicals as Funny Girl to film hits such as A Star is Born. Furthermore, Maestro Everly will lead Callaway in a post-concert performance in the Meyerhoff lobby on Friday, October 11. Please see below for complete program details.
