Jessica Frances Dukes Joins Cast of Playwrights Horizons' BOOTYCANDY; Tickets Now On Sale

Tickets go on sale to the general public starting today, Wednesday, July 23 for the Playwrights Horizons New York premiere production of BOOTYCANDY, a new play written and directed by Obie Award winner Robert O'Hara (director of In the Continuum, author of Antebellum and Insurrection: Holding History). Rehearsals for the season opener of the acclaimed theater company's 2014/2015 Season are set to begin next Friday, August 1.

A rethinking of the 1986 biographical play by Hugh Whitemore about mathematician and computing innovator Alan Turing who was instrumental in solving the Nazi's Enigma Code yet was vilified as a homosexual and chemically castrated before ultimately being pardoned 60 years after his death. A swirling production that is both a puzzle play and a tour-de-force for Mark H. Dold, who plays Turing brilliantly.

Last night, Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, presented Breaking the Code, Hugh Whitemore's biographical drama of Alan Turing, starring BSC Associate Artist Mark H. Dold. Directed by Joe Calarco, performances of Breaking the Code are from today, July 17 through August 2, with a press opening on Sunday, July 20 at 5pm. Broadwayworld was there for the opening.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) presents William Shakespeare's epic Henry V, directed by celebrated British director Christopher Luscombe in his Chicago debut. In a rousing finale to the 2014 season, the play that inaugurated Chicago Shakespeare Theater in 1986 on the rooftop of Lincoln Park's Red Lion Pub comes to the Courtyard Theater for the first time. Shakespeare's powerful history play explores the consequences of war and the capacity of language to inspire and transform. Leading the troops as the charismatic, young monarch is Harry Judge in the titular role. Henry V will be performed in CST's Courtyard Theater April 29 through June 15, 2014. Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company announces the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere of Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's The Totalitarians, a high-energy political comedy. The play explores the vacuous double-speak we invent for political gain and how this language insinuates itself into our everyday lives, relationships, and culture. Nachtrieb's work was last seen at Woolly with Season 29's Boom (2008), which went on to become the most widely produced new play in the country. Woolly Company Member and Andrew W. Mellon Playwright in Residence Robert O'Hara-the playwright and director of Season 31's Bootycandy (2011) and the playwright of Season 29's Helen Hayes Award winning Antebellum (2009)-will direct.
