Porchlight Music Theatre announces the final mainstage production in its 20th Anniversary "Season of Sondheim," A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, April 17 - May 24, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, direction by Porchlight Artistic Director Michael Weber with music direction by Porchlight Artistic Associate Linda Madonia and choreography by Porchlight Artistic Associate Brenda Didier at Stage 773, 1225 W. At the gala 46th Annual Equity Jeff Awards held at Drury Lane Oakbrook on Monday, October 13, awards were spread among numerous theatres honoring a season of outstanding productions. From Writers Theatre, "The Dance of Death", a battle of wits between a tyrant and his manipulative wife, received the Production-Play award for a large theatre, along with its two principal actors Larry Yando and Shannon Cochran. "The Normal Heart", Larry Kramer's tale of the early indifference in N.Y. about the HIV/Aids crisis, presented by TimeLine Theatre Company, was honored with awards for Production-Play for a midsize theatre and for Director Nick Bowling.

Raue Center for the Arts in association with Williams Street Repertory has announced that it will be mounting the Chicago Premiere of " SUDS: The Rockin' 60's Musical " This is to be the first of three Chicago premieres Raue Center's in-house company will be putting up in its 2014/2015 Season. SUDS will run through July, opening on July 11. Complete run dates are as follows: July 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26 at 8p and July 13, 19 and 27 at 3p.

At the gala 45th Annual Equity Jeff Awards held at Drury Lane Oakbrook on Monday, November 4, Steppenwolf Theatre Company's 'Good People' received the award for Production-Play in a large tier theatre. Principal Actress Mariann Mayberry was also honored for her role in this David Lindsey-Abaire play, which considers the dangerous consequences of holding on to the past or leaving it behind. William Brown received Best Director of a play for Writers Theatre's production of the French farce 'The Liar', adapted by David Ives.

On Saturday, April 6, 2013, Light Opera Works will host its annual spring benefit at the North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Illinois. Proceeds will benefit Light Opera Works programming, including the 2013 season, the Musical Theater Summer Workshop, student half-price tickets and Family Talk Backs.
