Opening the 36th season at Theatre Lawrence is 9 to 5: The Musical, a comedy based on the 1980 hit movie with Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin. Dolly Parton wrote the music and lyrics for the stage version, which includes 'Around Here,' 'Backwoods Barbie,' 'Get Out and Stay Out,' and the signature song, '9 to 5.' Based on the book by Patricia Resnick, this is a hilarious comedy about friendship and workplace vengeance.

Today we have the honor of talking to an actor equally skilled in comedy and drama who is now a playwright and director in his own right, with his new play, BULLET FOR ADOLF, being a New York stage hit - the one and only Woody Harrelson. A huge Hollywood star who has appeared in countless recognizable and beloved film properties over the last twenty-five years - from Oliver Stone's NATURAL BORN KILLERS, Milos Foreman's THE PEOPLE VS. Starring Amanda Morgan, Lital Abrahamson and Broadway veteran Bailey Hanks in the roles originated by Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda and Parton herself in the 1980 film, 9 to 5: The Musical provides the perfect vehicle for a musical score composed by Dolly herself, who may well be the most successful woman ever in country music.

The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center presents Valarie Pettiford (Tony-nominated star of Fosse, the feature film Jumping the Broom, ABC Family's Bunheads, HBO's Treme), who is releasing her second solo album, Velvet Sky, a collection of original lullabies this fall.To celebrate the release of her new album, Pettiford is performing a rare, one-night-only concert tonight, September 16, at the Center's beautiful Renberg Theatre.
