The Austin Shakespeare Theatre Company presents the New York premiere of Ayn Rand's novel ANTHEM. Adapted for the stage by composer Jeff Britting, curator of the Ayn Rand Archives, previews for ANTHEM begin tonight, September 25 at the Jerome Robbins Theater at the Baryshnikov Arts Center (450 W. 37th Street). Opening night is scheduled for Monday, October 7th for a limited ten-week run through December 1, 2013.

A Midsummer Night's Dream, William Shakespeare's popular story of illusive and abiding love, opened Saturday to cheers and a robust crowd at Harlem's Richard Rodgers Amphitheater in Marcus Garvey Park. The show, produced by the Classical Theatre of Harlem (CTH) (Producing Artistic Director, Ty Jones), is directed by CTH Artistic Associate and Oberlin College Professor of Theater and Africana Studies Justin Emeka and runs Tuesdays through Sundays at 7:30 pm through July 20. The Drama League (Gabriel Shanks, Executive Director; Roger T. Danforth, Artistic Director) has announced full casting for the 29th Annual DirectorFest, a festival of one-act plays staged by the Fall Directing Fellows of The Drama League Directors Project, beginning December 6 - 9 at The Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex, 312 West 36th street (at 8th Avenue).

The New York Musical Theatre Festival has added a performance for Mitch Magonet and Joey Miller's RIO, directed by Scott Faris. RIO, will play from July 10 - 18, 2012.at St. Clements Church (423 W. 46th Street). RIO, is being produced by Pinny Gniwisch. The additional show will take place on Monday, July 16 at 1PM.

Called 'a powerful examination of a changing nation' by the Houston Press ...and L.A. is Burning recently received the Smith Prize from the National New Play Network for 2008.
