Kenneth Branagh in Talks to Helm Disney's CINDERELLA Remake

Vulture reports that Disney has found the director to take on its impending CINDERELLA remake. Just a few weeks after original director Mark Romanek dropped out, the studio has reportedly tapped Kenneth Branagh to replace him. Inside sources confirmed to the site that the Brit director is entering late negotiations in order to keep the film on schedule.

Disney Theatrical Productions will be hosting open auditions, seeking possible future replacements for the Broadway and Touring companies of The Lion King. Auditions for the adult roles of Simba and Nala will be held in Orlando, Atlanta, Chicago and Los Angeles. Auditions for the roles of Young Simba and Young Nala will take place in New York City at the Apollo Theater.

According to the Daily Mail, Croatian actress Zrinka Cvitesic will play the female lead in Once at the Gaiety in Dublin, February 22 before transferring to the Phoenix in London on March 16, 2013. Cvitesic will join Declan Bennett under the direction of John Tiffany.
VIV! to Return to Edge Theatre, 2/14-17

Edge Theatre presented Viv! (The Story behind the Legend of Vivien Leigh) in Houston in December, but the show is having an exciting afterlife. It is being presented in Miami the weekend of Feb. 8-10, and returns to Houston with the original cast the following Valentine Day weekend, suitably enough, since the love of Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier was one of the great love stories of the 20th Century.
