Forty years after first coming together in 1972, Janis Siegel and The Manhattan Transfer (which includes Tim Hauser, Alan Paul and Cheryl Bentyne) is still going strong. This Thursday night at 54 Below (11pm), Siegel will preview songs from her upcoming CD before she even records them in the studio. In this exclusive interview with BroadwayWorld.com Cabaret Columnist Stephen Hanks, one of the country's greatest female jazz singers talks about all the current and upcoming performing projects that have her as busy and productive as ever.

MARCUS GOLDHABER has reached beyond his comfort zone as a highly regarded jazz vocalist and come into his own as a singer-songwriter on his third CD, ALMOST LOVE (Fallen Apple), due for release Oct. 9, 2012. Janis Siegel, Laurel Masse, and Lauren Kinhan, who form the singing group JaLaLa, recently wowed a packed Joe's Pub with a tight 75-minute program that was short on patter but long on wonderful harmonic collaboration, reminiscent of the great girl groups from the Boswell Sisters in the 1930 to The Ronettes and The Chiffons in the '60s.

When NateKid began the process of laying down the track for April Showers who else could he get to do this duet with him but the incomparable Alan Cumming (The Good Wife, X2, Golden Eye, Spy Kids, Smurfs). Alan lent his unique voice which has had fans of the Broadway stage swooning for years to NateKid's smokey baritone and together they created a heartfelt and moving rendition of April Showers.

The Cornelia Street Café (29 Cornelia St.) hosts an evening tonight of spoken word at 6 pm and music at 8:30 pm. The spoken word set, 'You Know Who I Am: A Tribute to Leonard Cohen,' will be performed by Davidson Garrett, LuLu Lolo, and Jane Titus. Hosted by David Devoe, GNU VOX: Peter Eldridge will be the musical guest.
