Sundance Institute to Launch New 'FilmTwo' Initiative

Sundance Institute today announced a significant expansion of its signature artist development programs to include targeted support for second-time feature filmmakers, addressing a growing need in the field of independent storytelling, especially for women and filmmakers of color. The new FilmTwo Initiative, led by the Institute's renowned Feature Film Program, with generous support from Founding Partner NBCUniversal, will offer selected directors specialized creative and tactical guidance in navigating the unique challenges of making their second feature films. The Initiative's inaugural Fellows announced today participated in a Screenwriters Intensive in March and continue to receive customized creative and tactical support and participate in select FFP activities.
2014 Columbia University Film Festival to Run 5/2-8

Columbia University School of the Arts Film Program and the Film Society of Lincoln Center will co-present the 27thAnnual Columbia University Film Festival (CUFF), a weeklong program of screenings, dramatic readings and special events in New York. The celebration will continue with events to be announced for June 17-20 in Los Angeles. This marks the third year that the Festival is co-presented by the Film Society.
Alison Cuddy Named New Program Director of Chicago Humanities Festival

The Chicago Humanities Festival (CHF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Alison Cuddy as its new Program Director. Cuddy, who comes to the Festival after more than 10 years as a producer and reporter with WBEZ 91.5 FM, will begin the full-time staff position May 5, 2014.

The Chicago Humanities Festival (CHF) presents the 24th annual Fall Festival, with more than 60 events that will explore the theme of ANIMAL: What Makes Us Human, Nov. 1-10 at venues across Chicago. This year's presenters include political consultant and former Senior Advisor to President Obama David Axelrod, revolutionary chef, restaurateur and TV personality Rick Bayless, celebrated author of Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and Eating Animals Jonathan Safran Foer, autism activist and author Temple Grandin, 59 Grand Slam title-winning tennis player Martina Navratilova, critically-acclaimed director of Boys Don't Cry and the recently released Carrie remake Kimberly Peirce, author of A Series of Unfortunate Events Lemony Snicket (Daniel Handler), author of The Secret History and the newly released novel The Goldfinch Donna Tartt, and many more.

Sony Classical is pleased to announce the international digital release of the original score from the Motion Picture Carrie on October 21. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and Screen Gems will release Carrie nationwide on Friday, October 18.

Breaking Glass Acquires Jules Stewart's K-11

Philadelphia-based Breaking Glass Pictures has acquired all domestic theatrical and ancillary rights to K-11, the directorial debut of veteran script supervisor Jules Stewart, the mother of The Twilight Saga actress Kristen Stewart.
