Classic Stage Company's production of Bertolt Brecht's MOTHER COURAGE AND HER CHILDREN, starring Tony Award winner Tonya Pinkins, begins performances tonight, December 9 for a limited engagement through January 24. MOTHER COURAGE AND HER CHILDREN will be directed by Brian Kulick and will feature original music by Tony Award winner Duncan Sheik. The official press opening is Thursday, January 7.

The annual Vivian Robinson/AUDELCO Recognition -- 'The VIV' Awards -- are the only formally established awards presented to the black theatre community. Every third Monday in November the nominees are awarded in various categories. This year's ceremony was held last night, November 16, at Symphony Space.

Two River Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, announces the full cast and creative team for its production of August Wilson's Seven Guitars, directed by Brandon J. Dirden, an award-winning actor who is making his directorial debut with this production. Seven Guitars is the third play in Wilson's American Century Cycle produced by Two River, following the theater's acclaimed mountings of Jitney and Two Trains Running. Performances will begin in Two River's Rechnitz Theater, 21 Bridge Avenue, on Saturday, September 12 and continue through Sunday, October 4. Due to his injuries from a recent automobile-related incident, Sahr Ngaujah will now not return to Signature Theatre's production of Athol Fugard's The Painted Rocks at Revolver Creek.

Signature Theatre has announced that due to an injury sustained by actor Sahr Ngaujah in a recent automobile-related incident, the role of Jonathan in Athol Fugard's The Painted Rocks at Revolver Creek will be played by Kevin Mambo until Mr. Ngaujah is able to return to the production.
