Tony Award winning actress Idina Menzel is set to perform on October 13 at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center's Cabaret gala. The event will be hosted by Katie Couric and will take place at 6:30pm. A black tie event will be held after the performance- tickets start at $2,000 per person. As reported previously, next month's Stand Up to Cancer TV special will feature several celebrity guests, including cancer survivors Christina Applegate and Maura Tierney. Accordig to Variety, an array of other Hollywood stars have signed on for the fundraiser, including: George Clooney, Gwyneth Paltrow, Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Billy Joe Armstrong, and Renee Zellweger.

The Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) television event is set to air live and commercial-free on FOX, September 10, 2010, at 8 p.m. EST & PST / 7 p.m. CST. Joining ABC, CBS and NBC, FOX will donate one hour of live simultaneous commercial-free primetime for the nationally televised September 10th fundraising special, to be broadcast from Los Angeles. Additionally, VH1, HBO Latino, TV One and G4 have agreed to air the SU2C event. They join HBO, Discovery Health, E!, MLB Network and The Style Network for an historic evening to raise much-needed funds for groundbreaking cancer research.

Deadline.com reports that Joy Behar is in talks with CNN to replace Larry King, who announced yesterday he will be leaving his talk show after 25 years. Behar, who has filled in previously for King, currently hosts her own CNN talk show, 'The Joy Behar Show,' which has enjoyed CNN's most notable gains in viewership according to CNN's Quarter 2 reports.

NBC News will be combining its communications, marketing and promotion arms into one department, NBC News Marketing and Communications. The announcement was made today by Steve Capus, President, NBC News. Lauren Kapp, most recently VP NBC News Communications, is being promoted to SVP, Marketing and Communications to oversee the new unit. In this newly created role, Kapp will be given the additional responsibilities of overseeing NBC News marketing, promotion, and brand strategy.
