Today on World Refugee Day, public television's WORLD Channel announces the lineup of films for season 3 of Doc World, a series that showcases stories that dive deep into the heart of international issues, giving viewers a chance to understand the lives and concerns of people beyond U.S. borders. The first three films of the season entitled: Sky and Ground, Los Comandos, and Towards the North, all follow refugees fleeing their homes in search of asylum.

Comedian-singer, Gary Northrup, brings his alter ego, Mildred Scrodum, to the Metropolitan Room in NYC on June 9th at 9:30pm for one performance of "An Evening with Mildred Scrodum and Friends" starring Gary Northrup, Hanna Burke and Joshua Bennett. Northrup's Mildred is a charming and hilarious character based on real women from Gary Northrup's childhood in the Bible Belt, where he believed there was a wild woman even in the most stalwart of Christian ladies. Mildred lives in the "One Last Time Trailer Park."

Mesa Arts Center today announced its 2014-2015 Performing Live Season, which begins with Lyle Lovett & His Large Band on July 24, and includes performances with Tony Bennett, MythBusters, Bill Cosby, Joshua Bell, Evil Dead the Musical, Molly Ringwald, and many more. The shows unveiled today are in addition to the six series packages announced on May 1, including Broadway on Center, Classical, Dance, Jazz, National Geographic Live, and Spoken World.

'A Gay Man's Guide to Broadway,' though a bit redundant in its titling, was a delightful romp highlighting not just LGBT characters, but equality overall throughout musical theatre history. Opening with 'Hello' from the still-impossible-to-snag-a-ticket-to Book of Mormon through a stirring a cappella arrangement of 'I Dreamed a Dream' (hauntingly and beautifully performed by Kevin Thomason - in the original Patti LuPone key, no less), the performance was an evenly-organized collection of well and lesser-known Broadway tunes.
