The five-time Grammy Award winning San Francisco Girls Chorus will open its first season of concerts curated under the artistic directorship of Lisa Bielawawith guest pianist Jon Nakamatsu in a program of Romantic Lieder arranged for treble voices and other works October 4 and 5 in San Francisco and Berkeley. Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival to Celebrate 35th Anniversary With Gala Concert at Dimenna Center, 4/8

Celebrating its 35th anniversary, the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival will present a concert open to the public for the first time in New York on Tuesday evening, April 8, 2014 at 7:45 p.m. at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Cary Hall, 450 West 37th Street, between Ninth and Tenth Avenues. A special orchestra-the Cape Cod Gala Orchestra, conducted by Liam Burke-has been assembled for this occasion. Noted WQXR radio announcer Jeff Spurgeon will host the evening and Nancy B. Barry, First President of the Festival, as well as Honorary Artistic Chair Charles Hamlen, V.P. of Orchestra of St. Luke's and Co-Founder of IMG Artists, will be on hand for the event.

The distinguished pianist Jon Nakamatsu will perform Brahms's Cello Sonata No. 1 in E minor, Op. 38 alongside Budapest Festival Orchestra's principal cellist Peter Szabo in a pre-concert recital tonight, August 16th at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 17th at 7:00 p.m. at Avery Fisher Hall, 20 W 65th St., New York.

The distinguished pianist Jon Nakamatsu will perform Brahms's Cello Sonata No. 1 in E minor, Op. 38 alongside Budapest Festival Orchestra's principal cellist Peter Szabo in a pre-concert recital on Friday, August 16th at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 17th at 7:00 p.m. at Avery Fisher Hall, 20 W 65th St., New York. Mr. Nakamatsu's appearances precede an all-Brahms program with the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, led by David Afkham in his Mostly Mozart debut. The concerts will feature Brahms's Double Concerto with soloists Truls Mork, cello and Vadim Repin, violin and will begin at 8:00 p.m. each evening at Avery Fisher Hall.

Das Lied von der Erde on St. Luke's Collection Now Available

Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) has just announced the release of the seventh album on its record label St. Luke's Collection: a live recording of Schoenberg and Riehn's masterful chamber arrangement of Gustav Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde. The work was performed to great acclaim in September 2011 by St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble with conductor George Manahan, mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano and tenor Paul Groves at Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC).
