This week, BWW Classical is thrilled to feature the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony under the musical direction of David Bernard!

The Park Avenue Chamber Symphony brings quality classical symphonic concerts to audiences in New York City, performing music across four centuries--from Bach through Twenty First Century Composers including Bruce Adolphe, Chris Caswell and John Mackey. Park Avenue Chamber Symphony concerts have included performances of all nine Beethoven Symphonies, all four Brahms Symphonies, major works by Berlioz, Copland, Mozart, Rimsky-Korsakov, Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky and featured important soloists including Carter Brey, Principal Cellist of the New York Philharmonic, David Chan, Concertmaster for the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Jon Manasse and Spence Myer, including featuring Whoopi Goldberg as narrator in Peter and the Wolf and showcasing young up and coming talent as soloists.

In addition to the orchestra's artistic mission, the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony helps arts education programs thrive in our schools so we can develop well-rounded people who attend concerts and maybe even donate to their local arts organizations. Through the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony's fund-raising efforts, we have helped establish a new scholarship fund for students at the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division and have raised money for the Lucy Moses Community Music School's Suzuki Scholarship Program. We have established a particularly longstanding relationship with The Harmony Program-a New York City organization that provides music lessons to economically disadvantaged children and is modeled after Venezuela's world-famous model of music education, "El Sistema."

The Park Avenue Chamber Symphony performs in both local venues and the major concert halls of New York City, including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall and the Symphony Space. This Fall, the orchestra will make its Fourth Appearance at Carnegie Hall featuring an 11 year old pianist-prodigy Daniela Liebman performing Shostakovich Piano Concerto No. 2 and virtuoso Violinist Jourdan Urbach performing Brahms Violin Concerto. We also reach a worldwide audience through our catalog of recordings available on iTunes and Amazon.com, and also through our tour of China in 2011/2012.

In 2011, the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony was invited to perform a series of concerts across China, including performances in Beijing, Qingdao, Dalian, Jinzhou, Chaoyang, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shenyang and Xi¹an.

The 2013-2014 season of the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony includes an appearance at the Stern Auditorium, Perlman Stage at Carnegie Hall featuring Daniela Liebman and Jourdan Urbach in a program that includes Tchaikovsky Romeo and Juliet, Shostakovich Piano Concerto No. 2, Dvorak Carnival Overture and Brahms Violin Concerto. In February 2014, the orchestra offers a program of Bartok, Barber and Brahms entitled "Brave, Bold and Beautiful" including Barber Knoxville, Summer of 1915 featuring soprano Tamra Paselk, Bartok Dance Suite, and Brahms Symphony No. 4. Finally in May 2014 the program "Classical Nobility" features Spencer Myer in Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2 along with Beethoven Symphony No. 2.

Park Avenue Chamber recordings are available on iTunes and Amazon.
