Janelle Monáe to Perform With FUN. at the Grammy Nominations Concert

Singer/songwriter Janelle Monae will perform with FUN. on 'The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! - Countdown To Music's Biggest Night.' Additionally, nine-time GRAMMY winner Sheryl Crow, country group Little Big Town, folk/rock group The Lumineers and country singer Chris Young have been added as presenters for the one-hour special. They join previously announced performers Luke Bryan, Hunter Hayes, three-time GRAMMY-winning group Maroon 5, three-time GRAMMY winner Ne-Yo, Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award recipients The Who, and The Band Perry and Dierks Bentley in a special tribute to Johnny Cash. Two-time GRAMMY winner LL COOL J and six-time GRAMMY winner Taylor Swift will co-host the one-hour concert special. The show - which will announce nominations in several categories as well as feature performances by past GRAMMY winners and/or nominees - will take place live for the first time ever at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., on Wednesday, Dec. 5, and will be broadcast in HDTV and 5.1 surround sound on the CBS Television Network (www.cbs.com) from 10 - 11 p.m. ET/PT (9 p.m. Central). Million Dollar Quartet, now in its fifth year in Chicago, continues performances through April 28, 2013 with cast members Brandon Bennett (Elvis Presley), Shaun Whitley (Carl Perkins), Lance Lipinsky (Jerry Lee Lewis), Chris Damiano (Johnny Cash), Tim Decker (Sam Phillips), Whitney Kraus Jones (Dyanne), Marc Edelstein (Jay Perkins/Bass player) and Dan Leali (Fluke/Drummer). The Tony-nominated musical inspired by the famed 1956 recording session that brought together legendary rock 'n' roll icons Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley, celebrates its long run in Chicago, a multiple Tony-nominated New York run, a long-running London production and a national tour that kicked-off in October 2011.

Opening exactly 56 years to the date of the actual event, Million Dollar Quartet is coming to the Durham Performing Arts Center this week. On Tuesday, December 4, 1956, four music icons came together for a jam session. Those four - Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis - and that one fateful night are the subject of the musical. I recently had the chance to sit down with David Elkins, who plays Johnny Cash, to ask him about how he landed the gig, how he prepares for the role, and more.
