Artistic Director Carey Perloff announced that California Shakespeare Theater Artistic Director and celebrated Bay Area director Jonathan Moscone will direct the West Coast premiere of Bruce Norris's critically acclaimed Clybourne Park as part of A.C.T.'s 2010-11 season.

Last week, cast members of LEND ME A TENOR were joined on stage by an unwanted furry friend, who dashed across the stage during a scene between Tony Shalhoub and Justin Bartha during a hotel scene. After hearing of the incident, PETA offered to help, and sent a letter to Jonathan Shulman, the manager of the theater, requesting the use of only humane mouse-control methods. PETA has sent along humane mouse traps that will allow theater staff to catch any future visitors and release them unharmed in a nearby park.

Bay Area audiences will be given a rare opportunity to see one of his vivid worlds come to life when the work of Peter S. Beagle, iconic American fantasy author best known for his international bestseller The Last Unicorn, will be presented on stage in the World Premiere of GIANT BONES. Written and directed by acclaimed Bay Area playwright Stuart Bousel, GIANT BONES is based on four of Beagle's short stories, as told by a traveling troupe of actors in a distant land. Interlacing myth and memory with dangerous magic and absurd bravery, and culminating in a climactic play within a play that questions who writes history and who remembers it, GIANT BONES runs May 14 through June 19 at the EXIT Theatre (156 Eddy Street, San Francisco). Surrounded by friends, family, and colleagues from the East Bay, San Francisco and Marin, California Shakespeare Theater's Artistic Director Jonathan Moscone was truly the man of the hour at La Dolce Vita, Cal Shakes' 15th annual gala on Saturday, March 20, 2010. The event, honorarily co-chaired by Ann and Gordon Getty and Barclay and Sharon Simpson, celebrated 10 years of Moscone's artistic leadership of the company, with the proceeds raised going to Cal Shakes' work on stage, in classrooms and throughout communities.

The classic John Steinbeck tale of two drifters in search of work in Depression-era California, OF MICE AND MEN, opens at the Roxy Regional Theatre on March 26 at 8pm, for a limited run.

The Collegiate Chorale, led by Music Director James Bagwell, presented the World Premiere Two Act Concert Version of Ricky Ian Gordon and Michael Korie's musical version of Nobel Prize-winner John Steinbeck's epic Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Grapes of Wrath, on March 22, 2010 at Carnegie Hall. Conducted by Ted Sperling, the performance featured Jane Fonda as the narrator.
