The Shakespeare Theatre Company welcomes the Theatre de l'Atelier's production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, directed by John Malkovich, to Washington, D.C. This French-revival stageplay, presented with English surtitles and adapted to a 21st century setting, runs from December 6-9, 2012 in the Company's Lansburgh Theatre (450 7th Street, NW).

The Irish Repertory Theatre, which has been dark since the blackout following Hurricane Sandy, has announced that performances of A CELEBRATION OF HAROLD PINTER are set to resume as of Friday, November 2 at 8pm in its W. Scott McLucas Studio Theatre; and performances of THE FREEDOM OF THE CITY are set to resume as of Saturday, November 3 at 3pm on its Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage, at 132 West 22nd Street in Manhattan.

Julian Sands, best known for his performances in 'Room With a View' and 'The Killing Fields,' and most recently seen on screen in the blockbuster film 'Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,' is set to make his New York City stage debut in A CELEBRATION OF HAROLD PINTER, with performances beginning Wednesday, October 10 at Irish Repertory Theatre's W. Scott McLucas Studio Theatre (132 West 22nd Street). With personal anecdotes and reflections drawn from their work together, Julian Sands combines Harold Pinter's poems and political prose to create a very fresh and intimate insight into the Nobel laureate's literary legacy.

Stage and screen star Sanaa Lathan (A Raisin in the Sun, Contagion) returns to the title role in Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage's By the Way, Meet Vera Stark for its West Coast premiere at the Geffen Playhouse. Lathan, who originated the character of Vera Stark in the critically acclaimed New York run, once again takes the stage as the 1930's era maid turned movie star, reunited with original cast member Kimberly Hebert Gregory (Spike Lee's Red Hook Summer) reprising her role as fellow aspiring African American actress Lottie. Shakespeare's Globe in partnership with Arts Alliance Media will release three of its 2011 theatre productions to cinemas in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and the UK. The Globe on Screen season will launch globally from today, September 26 and will include All's Well That Ends Well, with screenings to commence in the US from October 11, Much Ado About Nothing, from October 23, and Doctor Faustus, from November 8. BLACK WATCH Returns to STC, Beginning Tonight, Sept 19

The Shakespeare Theatre Company, recipient of the 2012 Regional Theatre Tony Award, presents the return of Black Watch, the critically acclaimed production depicting war from the perspectives of soldiers in Iraq. After a sold-out run at Sidney Harman Hall in 2011, this world-renowned piece from The National Theatre of Scotland makes landfall with STC before continuing on its U.S. tour. Written by Gregory Burke and directed by Tony Award winner John Tiffany (Once), Black Watch deploys its audience into the hostile environments faced by soldiers, both internal and external. Black Watch will run from tonight, September 19-October 7, 2012, at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW).
