Interview: Tammy Faye Starlite Spills Details of NICO UNDERGROUND at Joe's Pub

Cabaret singer Tammy Faye Starlite is bringing her show Nico Underground, exploring the subversive singer Nico perhaps best known for singing with the Velvet Underground. The show runs at Joe's Pub every Wednesday night at 9:30 pm from May 1 to May 22. We spoke with Tammy about the inspiration behind the show and the process of putting it together.

When the entertainment website BroadwayWorld.com announced its 2015 New York Cabaret Award nominees for "Best Alt Cabaret Show," Raquel Cion-hailed by The New York Times as "half witch and half cabaret performer"-was named a finalist for her stunning performances in Me & Mr. Jones: My Intimate Relationship with David Bowie, a show that generated standing ovations from SRO crowds at The Slipper Room, 167 Orchard Street. After Bowie's death in January, Cion decided to bring back a revised version of Me & Mr. Jones . . . for a three-show run that concludes at the popular Lower East Side burlesque/variety club on May 15 at 8 pm.

The Connecticut-raised performer and director received a 2015 Broadway World nomination for 'Best Musical Comedy or Alt Cabaret Show' for her brave and intensely personal exploration of the musical legend through whose work she plots the arc of her life over a 35-year period.

OOMPAH Arts-in-Education and The John W. Engeman Theater Partner to Raise Money for the Huntington School District

On Wednesday, February 29 at the John W. Engeman Theater, Kevin O'Neill, Executive Producer and Owner of the Theater, presented a check in the amount of $2,620 to OOMPAH for Arts in Education Committee. OOMPAH partnered with the John W. Engeman Theater to help raise money for supplemental curricular programming in grades K-12 throughout the Huntington School District. The Arts in Education committee is dedicated to providing educational programming of the highest value to the students of Huntington.
