Due to popular demand and following the announcement of its three 2016 Outer Critics Circle Award nominations, including 'Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical,' a new block of tickets is now on sale through September 25, 2016 for the new hit Off-Broadway musical, CAGNEY with book by Peter Colley and music & lyrics by Robert Creighton and Christopher McGovern, at The Westside Theatre -Upstairs (407 West 43rd Street). Death is but the next great adventure for Broadway's A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER. BroadwayWorld learned this evening that the Tony Award-winning Best Musical will play its final performance on the Great White Way on Sunday, January 17, 2016. Producer Joey Parnes announced the news today. The musical's record-breaking run at the Walter Kerr Theatre will have played nearly 1,000 performances on Broadway, and its Tony Award-winning star, Jefferson Mays, will have died more than 6,000 deaths as various members of the illfated D'Ysquith family. It was announced today that Judy Blazer will join the cast of the Tony Award winning Best Musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, in the role of Miss Shingle.  She will begin performances on Tuesday, June 30.  Carole Shelley, who currently fills the role, will play her final performance on Sunday, June 28. The 2015 National Meningitis Association Gala was held on April 27 at The Pierre Hotel to benefit the Fight Against Meningitis, a Vaccine-Preventable Disease. The annual NMA 'Give Kids a Shot' Gala was once again an emotion filled evening and a stellar success in aiding in the fight against meningitis, a potentially vaccine preventable disease. The Pierre was the stunning setting for this year's event as hundreds of New York's notables turned out to support the cause and were thrilled by the knockout performance of Obie Award winning actor/singer Darius de Haas. This year's Master of Ceremonies was Paul A. Offit, M.D., Chief of Infectious Diseases and Director of the Vaccine Education Center, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Scroll down for photos! It was announced today that two-time Olivier Award nominee Scarlett Strallen will take over the role of 'Sibella' in A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, which won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Musical, beginning Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Her predecessor Lisa O'Hare exits the production on February 8, 2015 after originating the role at Hartford Stage, then in San Diego at The Old Globe, and finally on Broadway at The Walter Kerr Theatre. Jon Weber one of the most prominent music directors in New York cabaret performed his one man show at the Metropolitan Room last night. The acclaimed Milwaukee born Jazz pianist and composer lectured and played a program which demonstrated how jazz piano evolved over the last 115 years. From Scott Joplin to Keith Jarrett Mr. Weber recreated the sounds and styles of the various pianists and showed how they influenced piano jazz over the years. Jon is the host of Piano Jazz with Jon Weber on National Public Radio and his recent album titled Simple Complex features his own compositions. (more...)
