Simply put, get thee to the Kennedy Center to experience it for yourself.

From now through October 14, visitors to the theatre can expect to be - like I was - impressed by how the creative team, its stellar cast, and some exceedingly talented technicians bring this well-known story to life on its massive stage.

This rewarding theatrical experience is a must-see for anyone interested in exploring the power of love, memory, and family in a small Irish town.

It was a night of brilliant music performed in front of a wonderfully diverse and appreciative crowd at Strathmore that we won't soon forget.

Today's subject Tina Ghandchilar is currently living her theatre life in the most stoked way possible. She is currently preparing to star as Florence in Chess at The Theatre Lab School for the Dramatic Arts, which, in my opinion, is the best arts in education institution in DC. The production runs from April 27th through May 6th.

As there are two more performances, I won't spoil the myriad of illusions that Lepage and his team include in the production, but suffice it to say that - production-wise, this show is unlike any other I've seen come through this illustrious arts center in years.

THE CIRCLE OF LIFE: THE SONGS OF TIM RICE IN CONCERT was nothing less than a case study in ambition.

All in all, I certainly commend Arena Stage, including Artistic Director Molly Smith, for taking a chance on this new work. Unfortunately, there's a ways to go to ready it for an audience, particularly here in DC where there is bound to be at least a handful of people with a pretty good understanding of the subject matter.

Lillian Hellman's 1941 play WATCH ON THE RHINE isn't often produced, but it's certainly a relevant one in today's troubling times. As directed in the round by Jackie Maxwell at Arena Stage, it's probably one of the best examples of a scintillating, well-written script being brought to the stage by a uniformly excellent cast. The end result is a must-see production for the serious theatergoer.

Clare Barron's apocalyptic play BABY SCREAMS MIRACLE is, fundamentally, an interesting and exceptionally written exploration of the forces of religion and of nature on one small town American family dealing with its own kind of inner turmoil. A uniformly strong cast under the direction of Artistic Director Howard Shalwitz brings out the best of the already strong script at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company.

The material speaks for itself and gives the cast - and especially Nova Y. Payton - a chance to stretch their limits.
