HARD TIMES Extends Through 2/16

After receiving critical acclaim and overwhelming demand by sold out New York audiences, Larry Kirwan's Stephen Foster musical 'Hard Times' will extend performances thru February 16th at the the cell, A Twenty First Century Salon (Founding Artistic Director, Nancy Manocherian) (338 West 23rd Street). The production will play the following ten additional performances: Wednesdays thru Saturdays 2/5-8 and 2/12-15 at 8pm; Sundays 2/9 and 2/16 at 3pm.

Hard Times the new Stephen Foster musical served up an Irish Wake in honor of the show's opening Off Broadway on January 13th---the 150th Anniversary of Foster's death. At a post-performance party all audience and cast members will share shots of Irish Whiskey to salute the acclaimed 'father of American music', and pre-eminent 19th century songwriter. STAGE TUBE: Behind the Scenes of Gallery Players' PARADE

The Gallery Players, now in its 46th season, will start off the New Year with Alfred Uhry and Jason Robert Brown's PARADE, running January 26 to February 17, 2013. Tony Award winner for Best Book and Best Score in 1999, PARADE is based on the true events of the 1913 trial of Leo Frank, a Jewish man from Brooklyn who runs a pencil factory in Marietta, Georgia. Frank is accused of the murder of 13-year old Mary Phagan, a factory worker under his employ. Already guilty in the eyes of everyone around him, a sensationalist publisher, determined district attorney and a janitor's false testimony seal Leo's fate. His only defenders are a governor with a conscience, and eventually, his assimilated Southern wife who finds the strength and love to become his greatest champion. 2013 marks the 100th anniversary of the crime. Act II Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Bud Martin announced that he will remount Act II's popular musical, Respect: A Musical Journey of Women, in 2010 at Society Hill Playhouse. Martin, who directs the Act II Playhouse production, made the decision to produce Respect downtown for 12 weeks, Jan. 27 through April 18.

Erin Davie To Host New Voices Concert At Duplex Cabaret 1/26

Erin Davie, who co-starred in Broadway's Grey Gardens, will host the January 26 Monday Nights, New Voices' concert at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre. The 7pm concert will celebrate the work of composer and lyricist team Joshua Salzman and Ryan Cunningham. Those scheduled to perform are Wade Dooley, Wade Elkins, Jennifer Lorae, John Pinto, Isabel Santiago and Ali Stroker.
