Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee- Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director) is proud to announce that single tickets for all five mainstage productions go on-sale to the public on Monday, June 13th for the 2011-2012 season. Paper Mill Playhouse is offering an exciting lineup of four musicals and one play, including a brand new Disney musical. In September, Paper Mill Playhouse opens their season with the premiere of the new Disney stage musical, Newsies (September 15, 2011 - October 16, 2011), adapted for the stage from the live-action Disney feature film musical. In November, celebrate the holiday season with the New Jersey premiere of White Christmas (November 16, 2011 - December 18, 2011). Brightening the winter in January is the hit comedy Boeing-Boeing (January 18, 2012 - February 12, 2012). Then enjoy the legendary musical comedy Damn Yankees (March 7, 2012 - April 1, 2012) just in time for spring training. To close the 2011-2012 season comes a musical tale of romance, tragedy, redemption and rebirth in Once on This Island (May 30, 2012 - June 24, 2012). This new musical comedy, direct from Broadway, is based on the hit movie and features Dolly Parton's original hit title song along with her new Tony Award® and Grammy-nominated score. The book is by Patricia Resnick (co-writer of the original screenplay). The touring production will be directed and choreographed by Tony nominated, Jeff Calhoun. Diana DeGarmo stars as Doralee, and recently performed on Good Morning Texas. View her performance below!

Paper Mill Playhouse will open its 2011-2012 season with the premiere of a new Disney stage musical, Newsies. Featuring music by eight time Academy Award®-winning composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Sister Act, The Little Mermaid), lyrics by Jack Feldman and a new book by four-time Tony® Award winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy), Newsies is adapted for the stage from the live-action Disney feature film musical. The production is being directed at Paper Mill by Tony® nominee Jeff Calhoun (The Will Rogers Follies, Grey Gardens). The show begins performances on Thursday, September 15. The official press opening is scheduled for Sunday, September 25. Recently, BroadwayWorld stopped by the Newsies open call in New York City and went inside the audition room. First introduced to locals here in Southern California back in 2008 during its pre-Broadway tryouts at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, the 1st National Tour of the retooled 9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL has arrived in Orange County for a week of shows ending May 10 at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Zippier and more compact than its previous stage incarnations, the show--featuring original songs written by Dolly Parton--takes the original hit 1980 film comedy and repurposes it into a cute, charming musical about the struggles of women in a male-dominated workplace.

Back in Season 3 of the Fox talent search juggernaut American Idol, then 16-year-old Diana DeGarmo narrowly missed the coveted title, walking away as the first runner up. Fast forward to 2011 and the now 23-year-old is currently starring as the iconic Doralee Rhodes in the national touring company of 9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL, the Dolly Parton-scored Broadway musical adaptation of the cult 1980 film. The show performs a single-week run at the Segerstrom Center of the Arts in Costa Mesa from May 10 through May 15. DeGarmo recently chatted with BroadwayWorld's Michael Lawrence Quintos to talk about Idol, early shows, and her Dolly-fied role.

BWW Reviews: 9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL at the 5th Avenue Theatre

Right from the opening few notes of "9 to 5: The Musical", now performing at the 5th Avenue Theatre, the show wants to draw you back to connect with the original film. And while the show is a solid bit of fluff and definitely improved from the last time I saw it (but we'll get to that in a minute) occasionally those moments of connection get a little cheesy and desperate.
