Nine-time Grammy winner and seventeen-time Grammy nominee, Janis Siegel, will join Songbook Academy founder, Michael Feinstein, for this one-of-a-kind music and performance intensive for high school students.

Legendary jazz singer and lyricist Jon Hendricks, dubbed 'The Poet Laureate of Jazz,' celebrated jazz vocalist and actress Annie Ross, and acclaimed jazz singer Janis Siegel are among the artists who will be honored at the 31st Annual Bistro Awards gala tonight, March 8 at 6:30 pm at the Gotham Comedy Club, 208 W. 23rd St. As is the Bistro Awards tradition, the evening will feature performances by the winners.

The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center has unveiled the 2016-17 Season featuring a lineup of 16 titles as part of the Fox Cities P.A.C. Presents Series and eight Broadway shows in the Kimberly-Clark Broadway Across America - Fox Cities Series.

In response, several WMU Theatre alums and Kalamazoo natives who now reside in NYC are coming together to produce KALAMAZOO STRONG: A BENEFIT CABARET The event will be held Monday, March 7th at 9:30pm in the Laurie Beechman Theatre in Manhattan.

The Manhattan Transfer performed at Jan McArts Live at Lynn Series in Boca Raton last night and BroadwayWorld was there. Check out the photos below. The legendary vocal group founded by Tim Hauser in 1969 has won 10 Grammy Awards and 20 nominations.  The audiences at the groups two sold out concerts were treated to many famous arrangements from the groups storied song book. Among others the Boca audience heard, Candy, Operator, Birdland, (for which Janis Siegel won a Grammy Award for best arrangement), and Route 66.  Alan Paul, Janis Siegel, Cheryl Bentyne, and Trist Curless also displayed their vocal expertise in some great solos.

The shows are Wednesday nights, tonight, October 7, and October 21, November 4 and November 25 at 11:30 PM.

LEA DeLARIA will perform selections from her innovative new album, House of David: delaria + bowie = jazz - which boldly reexamines the work of music icon David Bowie - in a series of concerts at Smoke Jazz Club (2751 Broadway at 106th Street). The shows are Wednesday nights, October 7, October 21, November 4 and November 25 at 11:30 PM. Tickets are $12 with an additional $20 minimum. The founding member of that great band, guitarist extraordinaire Denny Dias, will take the stage at New York's popular jazz club IRIDIUM this week, August 6 and 7 for Denny Dias & Friends, a show that will celebrate the music of Steely Dan and showcase a few of his Denny's original songs. Joining Denny will be two special guests: Celebrated pianist/composer/music director Yaron Gershovsky and popular singer Lisa Jason as the show's lead vocalist. Performances of Denny Dias & Friends will be at 8 pm and 10 pm each night. Birdland was the scene of a very special show last night as friends and family gathered for the Wedding Celebration of Ann Hampton Callaway and Kari Strand. Broadway at Birdland and Jim Caruso's Cast Party have seen many famous and talented people on that legendary stage but it will be hard to top last night's list of guests.
