LEA DeLARIA will perform selections from her innovative new album, House of David: delaria + bowie = jazz - which boldly reexamines the work of music icon David Bowie - in a series of concerts at Smoke Jazz Club (2751 Broadway at 106th Street). The shows are Wednesday nights, tonight, October 7, and October 21, November 4 and November 25 at 11:30 PM. Tickets are $12 with an additional $20 minimum. She will be joined by Lucas Pino on saxophone, Alex Goodman on guitar, Dylan Shamat on bass and Aaron Kimmel on drums. Tickets are available here.

The television, stage and music star is currently best known as "Carrie 'Big Boo' Black" in the hit Netflix series "Orange is the New Black." Released by Ghostlight Records, the album was called "utterly phenomenal" by Salon.com. House of David is available on iTunes here in addition to other digital formats, with physical CDs available in stores and online. This summer DeLaria performed the opening track "Fame" with Conan O'Brien on his TV program "Conan," which is available here. The first major jazz reworking on Bowie's beloved catalog, the album features tracks such as a smooth bossa nova interpretation of "Golden Years," a trenchant "Life On Mars" and a roof-raising gospel take on "Modern Love." House of David is produced by Matt Pierson with Jeremy Katz serving as Executive Producer. To order the album, please visit www.sh-k-boom.com/houseofdavid.

"Bowie is not only a god of rock and arbiter of style, but he's THE defining singer songwriter of the latter part of the 20th century," according to Lea. "From 'Suffragette City' to Labyrinth through Ziggy Stardust and The Hunger, his bold career choices and mind blowing artistic technique flies in the face of convention. He is quite simply a legend. David's music lends itself perfectly to the language of Jazz. I hope he sees this album as the tribute to his genius that I mean it to be. LONG LIVE DAVID BOWIE."

House of David features Kevin Hays on piano and keyboards, Tony Scherr on bass and guitar, Steve Cardenas on guitar, Kenny Wollesen on drums and vibes, Seamus Blake on saxophones, Bashiri Johnson on percussion, Shedrick Mitchell on Hammond B3 and special featured vocalist Janis Siegel.

LEA DELARIA boasts a multi-faceted career as a comedian, actress and jazz musician.
