Denzel Washington, currently starring in the acclaimed Broadway production of A Raisin in the Sun, will serve as Host of the Shubert Foundation/MTI Broadway Junior Student Share celebration while hundreds of students from middle and intermediate New York City Public Schools make their Broadway debut on stage at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 W. 44 St.) on Monday, May 19th at 10:30 a.m. (Press set up at 9:30 a.m.; select pre-show photo ops at 10 a.m.).

Trustus Theatre, located in Columbia's Vista, has received a $10,000 grant from the Shubert Foundation for the 2013-14 theatre season. The Foundation provides general operating support for not-for-profit professional theatre and dance companies across the nation. The grant award was based on a strong track record of artistic achievement, administrative strength and fiscal responsibility.

Boise Contemporary Theater (Matthew Clark, Artistic Director; Helene Peterson Managing Director) announces a $25,000 gift from The Shubert Foundation to support the operations of the Company. This is the largest gift to BCT from the Foundation.

At a time when good news for performing arts organizations in search of funding has become all too rare, The Shubert Foundation announces a record $18,215,000 in grants to support operations of a record 450 nonprofit organizations throughout the U.S. in 2010.

In a recent article in the NY Post, Michael Riedel reveals some hidden Broadway secrets including the historic Music Box Theatre (239 W. 45th St.), built by Irving Berlin in 1921. Goodman Theatre is the proud recipient of an unprecedented $275,000 gift from the Shubert Foundation, marking the largest annual general operating support grant in the theater's 84-year history.
