From June 8 until June 13 the Martha Graham Dance Company will present eight performances at the Joyce Theater featuring four remarkable programs, each combining new commissions with classics. Premiers include American Document by Anne Bogart and Dance is a Weapon. The classics Appalachian Spring, Panorama, and Sketches from Chronicles will also be performed. This season launches the Company's Political Dance Project.

After touring the globe for the last 15 years to the highest international acclaim, the eight-member troupe Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca will traverse the Atlantic from their native Spain to illuminate New Orleans' romantic and historic French Quarter at Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre, revealing a dark, candlelit explosion of song, dance and red hot passion.

A Noise Within (ANW) ends run of AWAKE AND SING!, an American classic by CLIFFORD ODETS, Sunday, May 23, 2010 (previews begin Saturday, March 13), directed by Andrew J. Traister. Featuring veteran actor Len Lesser (Jacob), who is well known to contemporary audiences at Seinfeld's 'Uncle Leo' and highly regarded ANW Resident Artists Deborah Strang (Bessie Berger) and Joel Swetow (Myron Berger), the play also features Alan Blumenfeld (Uncle Morty), Molly Leland (Hennie Berger), David Lengel (Sam Feinschreiber), Daniel Reichert (Moe Axelrod), Adam Silver (Ralph Berger) and Alan Waserman (Schlosser).

Although he's already been at work for several weeks, today it was revealed that Joe Goode has joined the creative team for the world premiere of Girlfriend at the Tony Award-winning Berkeley Repertory Theatre. The renowned San Francisco choreographer is working alongside Berkeley Rep's associate artistic director, Obie Award-winner Les Waters, to stage this tender new show. Featuring music and lyrics by Matthew Sweet and a book by Todd Almond, Girlfriend begins previews on April 9, opens April 14, and closes May 9, 2010.

Actress/playwright Kres Mersky's solo plays include Isadora Duncan: A Unique Recital (currently touring the West Coast and Canada) and At The Codfish Ball. Her full-length, full-cast plays include Algerian Romance and Flag Day. She has also written numerous one acts. She has appeared extensively on stage, screen and television, and is a member of the prestigious stage company Theatre West. Mersky's newly revised solo play The Life and Times of A. Einstein will open at Theatre West on April 10. In our talk, she discusses the play and what drew her to Einstein among other theatrical interests.
