Haven Theatre Company announces How We Got On to begin their fourth season, written by Idris Goodwin and directed by Jess McLeod, at the company's new home within the Den Theatre's new Bookspan Theatre, 1335 Milwaukee Ave., September 29 - November 12. Previews are Thursday, Sept. 29 - Saturday, Oct.1 at 8 p.m. Opening night is Sunday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. The regular performance schedule is Thursdays - Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Regular run tickets are $32, senior tickets are $20 and college/industry tickets are $15 (preview tickets are $12). Jackalope Theatre Company wraps up its 8th season with The 7th Annual Living Newspaper Festival. In homage to the 1930's Living Newspapers of the Federal Theatre Project, Jackalope has assembled an exciting group of Chicago playwrights, directors, and actors to dramatize stories ripped from recent newspaper headlines.

Rivendell Theatre Ensemble (RTE), Chicago's only Equity theatre dedicated to producing new work with women at the core, announces the midwest premiere of Dry Land by Ruby Rae Spiegel. The production, directed by RTE member Hallie Gordon, runs April 22 - May 28, 2016, at Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, 5779 N. Ridge Avenue in Chicago. The press opening is Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 7:00pm.

The League of Chicago Theatres, Goodman Theatre, the University of Illinois at Chicago and competition organizer Derrick Sanders announce the top three Chicago finalists for the 7th Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition: Ireon Roach from Nicholas Senn High School (first place, performed Ruby, King Hedley II), Danielle Chmielewski from Lincoln Park High School (second place, performed Tonya, King Hedley II) and Tevion Devin Lanier from Nicholas Senn High School (third place, performed Becker, Jitney).

The Yard's production of Milk Like Sugar, by award winning playwright Kirsten Greenidge, will feature a mixed ensemble of professional actors along with The Yard company members who are all students in the Senn Arts magnet program of Chicago's Senn High School.

Writers Theatre opens its 8th annual tour of The MLK Project: The Fight for Civil Rights, written by Yolanda Androzzo, directed by Jimmy McDermott and featuring Caren Blackmore. A special Martin Luther King, Jr. Day public performance will take place at 10am on January 20 at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N Clark Street in Chicago.
