Angela Lansbury will receive the Stephen Sondheim Award in Washington this Monday. In a recent interview with the Washington Post, Lansbury said she had never even considered performing in musicals until being approached by Arthur Laurents and Sondheim for Gypsy.

This week, we are taking a listen to the sparkling new cast recording of the hit 2009 Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim & Hugh Wheeler's A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC. Nonesuch Records and PS Classics released the 2010 new Broadway cast recording of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC on Tuesday, April 6, 2010. That same day, Stephen Sondheim and the A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC cast signed copies of the album at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street).

The beloved murderous musical, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, joins the list of other Sondheim works already produced or produced in staged-readings on Cygnet's stages. Co-Directed by Cygnet Artistic Director Sean Murray and Resident Artist James Vasquez, Sweeney Todd runs through April 25th, 2010 at Cygnet's Old Town Theatre.

Théâtre du Châtelet's production of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC will broadcast the recording of the show made in February on Radio France on March 24th at 8:00pm. The concert was recorded February 15th, with the cast featuring David Curry, Rebecca Bottone, Francesca Jackson, and Greta Scacchi.
