Guthrie Announces Three NT Live Screening Dates for 11/12 Season

The Guthrie Theater today announced three NT Live screening dates for the 2011-12 season: the smash-hit London production One Man, Two Guvnors (October 2), an English version of Carlo Goldoni's classic Italian comedy; Arnold Wesker's fast and furious examination of life in The Kitchen (November 6); and Collaborators (January 9), John Hodge's blistering new play depicting a lethal game of cat and mouse in 1938 Moscow.

Tony and Emmy Award-winning actor David Hyde Pierce has been cast in the Vineyard Theatre's Developmental Lab Production of THE LANDING (previously titled 'Andra') -- a collection of three related one-act musicals written by the celebrated composer John Kander and his new collaborator, Greg Pierce - to be directed by Scott Ellis, with David Loud as musical director, it has been announced by artistic director Douglas Aibel and co-artistic director Sarah Stern. THE LANDING will be presented in the spring of 2012 at The Vineyard (108 E. 15 St.).

On Tuesday, August 9, at Seattle Opera's Annual Meeting at McCaw Hall, the company announced that it achieved a balanced budget (unaudited) for the 2010/11 season, which included productions of Tristan und Isolde, Lucia di Lammermoor, The Barber of Seville, Don Quichotte, and The Magic Flute. The original budget for the season totaled more than $23 million; the total expense budget for the season, unaudited, is projected to be just less than $21.5 million.
Helen Mirren Joins HBO's Phil Spector Film, Replacing Bette Midler

As previously reported by BroadwayWorld, Bette Midler has pulled out of the cast of the untitled film centered around Phil Spector. Midler suffered from a herniated disc and left the film on doctor's orders. HBO today announced her replacement: Helen Mirren.
