A third set of presenters has been announced for the 61st Primetime Emmy (R) Awards airing Sunday, Sept. 20, on CBS. Primetime Emmy Award winners Michael J. Fox and Ellen Burstyn along with nominees Jon Cryer, Tracy Morgan and Bob Newhart, in addition to Patricia Arquette, David Boreanaz, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Rob Lowe, Hayden Panettiere, Josh Radnor and Cobie Smulders will present. The telecast will be broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 20 (8:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. (more...)

Variety reports that the stage adaptation of 'The Shawshank Redemption' that played at Dublin's Gaiety Theatre will get a West End run in the fall. Based on the Stephen King novella that also inspired the 1994 movie version of 'Shawshank', the plot centers on the friendship two men develop over their time as inmates in a notoriously tough prison. From April 15 through May 11 the 21 actors, three directors and one playwright in the first class to earn their Masters in Fine Arts (MFA) since the school moved to Pace in the fall of 2006 are presenting the school?s noted Repertory Season. The school is the only MFA theatre program officially sanctioned by the Actors Studio, whose co-Presidents are Ellen Burstyn, Harvey Keitel and Al Pacino. (more...)

The 20th annual Dusty Film and Animation Festival and Awards will highlight over 100 films by students graduating from the BFA Film, Video and Animation Department at the School of Visual Arts (SVA). The program includes screenings of short films, videos and animations; and an awards ceremony and gala with notable presenters from the film industry. This year's Screenwriters Night is a collaboration with the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in which SVA graduating screenwriters will have selected scenes performed live by alumni from the Neighborhood Playhouse.
