The Village Voice, the nation's largest alternative weekly newspaper, will hold the 59th Annual Obie Awards tonight, Monday, May 19, 2014, at Webster Hall in the East Village, 125 East 11th Street. The Obies will be co-hosted by the distinguished actress Tamara Tunie, whose many memorable stage performances include the lead in the Public Theater's Troilus and Cressida, while her film and television credits include Devil's Advocate, FLIGHT, City Hall, Snake Eyes, Eve's Bayou, The Caveman's Valentine, The Red Road, 'Law and Order: SVU', '24', 'Sex and The City', 'NYPD Blue'.

The 80th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon was held yesterday afternoon, May 16, at the Marriott Marquis Times Square, where winners were announced for Distinguished Production of a Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical, and the much coveted Distinguished Performance Award. Today's New York Times featured a piece written by 2014 Tony Award Nominee Harvey Fierstein (Casa Valentina). The piece tells the horrifying story of a teenage girl (referred to as simply Jane Doe to protect her identity as a youth) who has been sexually and physically abused by family members as well as staff members of various institutions and residencies she's been placed in. Fierstein hypothesizes that the reasoning behind these attacks on this girl is because she is transgender.

Ray Rackham and David Keefe return to London Theatre Workshop to direct and musically direct the UK professional premiere of the Broadway musical, "A Catered Affair", written by Harvey Fierstein and John Bucchino. This will be followed by a fresh revival of Fierstein's Torch Song Trilogy, in July, which will close the first season of plays and musicals at London Theatre Workshop. This production marks the first time "A Catered Affair" has been produced professionally in London, at the newly established boutique theatre London Theatre Workshop.

The Drama League has announced that the Emmy-nominated star of Modern Family and Broadway veteran Jesse Tyler Ferguson will host the upcoming 80th Annual Drama League Awards. Considered one of the high points of the theater season, the Annual Awards Luncheon includes a nominees cocktail reception, luncheon ceremony, and awards presentation and that will be held today, May 16, 2014 at the Marriott Marquis Times Square in the Broadway Ballroom (1535 Broadway) beginning at 11:30 a.m. Financier Patisserie, GenSpring Family Offices, and National Life Group are the 2014 Event Sponsors of the 80th Annual Drama League Awards.

It was a mini 2004 FIDDLER ON THE ROOF Broadway revival reunion at the wedding of celebrity fitness expert Craig Ramsay and celebrity hairstylist Brandon Liberati at the Riviera Palm Springs last weekend. Harvey Fierstein's new Broadway play CASA VALENTINA may be heading to the big screen.

Manhattan Theatre Club, by special arrangement with Colin Callender, Robert Cole, Frederick Zollo and The Shubert Organization, has announced an extension for CASA VALENTINA, the hit world premiere play by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein, directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello. An additional two weeks have been added to the critically acclaimed limited engagement, with tickets now on sale through Sunday, June 29 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).
