Casting has been announced for the Charlotte engagement of Disney's  NEWSIES.   The Tony® Award-winning production will begin performances at Belk Theater at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, August 9 for a limited engagement through Sunday, August 14.

Broadway's DONALD CORREN continues his run at The Metropolitan Room on Thursday, August 4 @ 7:00, with his intimate evening of comedy and music, recounting a career that took him from playing piano in dive bars to leading roles on Broadway.

"I haven't specifically counted," the dynamic actress sitting opposite me replies. "Somewhere between 1000-2000 performances, I think. I've done the role with Theodore Bikel and Harvey Fierstein, on both national tours, and in regional and stock houses all over the country." Susan Cella is speaking of her signature portrayal of Golde, the vehicle which has brought her to the latest stop in her artistic journey, Maine State Music Theatre in a new production of the Bock-Harnick musical, Fiddler on the Roof, that opens July 20.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Sheridan Smith has taken a leave of absence from Funny Girl at the Savoy Theatre due to 'stress and exhaustion.' Today, producers have confirmed that the actress will return to the West End production tonight in the role of Fanny Brice. Natasha J. Barnes has subbed for Smith since the end of May.

Although she has gone on to achieve international fame as a pop star, the award-winning singer has never forgotten her musical theater roots.

Music superstar and stage and television actress Ariana Grande has been added to an already impressive cast for NBC's 'Hairspray Live!,' playing the role of Penny Pingleton, Tracy Turnblad's incorrigible best friend.

Broadway In Chicago has announced that THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL, THE BOOK OF MORMON, Disney's NEWSIES and SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE! will make 1776 half-price tickets available through the League of Chicago Theatres' Hot Tix program Tuesday, June 28 beginning at 12 PM through Sunday, July 10. 

Skylight Music Theatre today announced the lead performers and creative team for the Tony Award-winning musical La Cage Aux Folles (The Birdcage). Skylight's production runs November 18 through December 23 in the beautiful Cabot Theatre at the Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N. Broadway, in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward.

The Archives of La MaMa just launched La MaMa's Digital Collections Website (catalog.lamama.org). Its development was made possible by a generous 'hidden archival collections' grant from the Council on Library and Information Resources. The site, which premieres on June 27, 2016 as part of La MaMa's 55th anniversary season, is freely available for use by artists, scholars, educators, and the interested public. Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein was recently honored at the 3rd Annual Logo Trailblazer Honors. In his acceptance speech, Fierstein took the opportunity to speak to the LGBT community in the wake of the Orlando shooting, telling the community to 'put your arms around each other' and reinforcing that the community is 'surrounded' with love and acceptance.
