The Los Angeles Philharmonic (LA Phil) and NCM Fathom announced today the third and final performance of the LA Phil LIVE second season featuring world-renowned Music Director Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil with jazz legend Herbie Hancock for a celebration of quintessential American composer George Gershwin on Sunday, March 18 at 2 p.m. Pacific / 5 p.m. Eastern.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic (LA Phil) and Omniverse Vision Ltd. announced today that the February 18 performance featuring world-renowned Music Director Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil, LA Phil LIVE: Dudamel conducts Mahler 8, "Symphony of a Thousand," will be broadcast live and delayed in movie theaters in Argentina, Brazil and Colombia. This never-before-seen broadcast from Caracas, Venezuela, showcases Dudamel leading the two organizations that have been so prominent in his life, the LA Phil and the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, in a dynamic performance of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 8, "Symphony of a Thousand."

Embracing traditional repertoire, while introducing bright new interpretations, inventive staging and the best in established and emerging guest artists, the line-up includes numerous highlights. Among these are three new innovative Music Unwound programs: "Come to the Cabaret," Mozart's Requiem and Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring"; a continuation of the opera initiative that last season-"Symphonic Voices"-featuring Puccini's "Tosca"; critically acclaimed American Composers Festival enters its 13th year by exploring the music of the iconic American jazz age with the Duke Ellington Orchestra.

'Open Rehearsal' by Lazarre Seymour Simckes, author of 'Seven Days of Mourning,' 'Ten Best Martyrs of the Year,' and 'Nossig's Antics,' is a Pirandellian farce in which a play about a chaotic family pretends to be just a chaotic rehearsal. The playwright is an award-winning author whose plays usually confront difficult questions of Jewish history with absurdist logic. This is his fourth production at Theater for the New City and his first time directing his own work.
