Tour Dates Announced for Nicole Henry

Fresh off a hugely successful, sold-out US summer tour, internationally-acclaimed jazz/soul chanteuse Nicole Henry has earned a 2013 Centric Soul Train Award nomination for Best Traditional Jazz Performance for her stellar performance of “Waiting in Vain,” off her latest album 'SO GOOD, SO RIGHT: NICOLE HENRY LIVE.' Henry is the only solo female artist in a male-dominated category, placing her in great company with fellow nominees including George Benson (featuring Wynton Marsalis), Jeffrey Osborne (featuring Chaka Khan), Tony Bennett (featuring Marc Anthony), and Terence Blanchard. This category is one of four awards determined by public votes and fans are encouraged to vote often. Tune in on Sunday, December 1 to watch the broadcast.
Capathia Jenkins & Darius de Haas to Join Houston Symphony for Pops Concert, 10/4-6

On October 4, 5 and 6, Principal Pops Conductor Michael Krajewski alongside superstar guest vocalists Capathia Jenkins and Darius de Haas will join the Houston Symphony for an evening of smooth grooves, easy rhythms and timeless top 40 hits. Audiences will hear music from the kings and queens of classic soul, including Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, James Brown, Roberta Flack, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye. With songs like 'Natural Woman,' 'You are Everything,' 'Respect,' 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours' and 'I Heard it Through the Grapevine,' Jones Hall is sure to be full of rhythm from this iconic musical era. Showcasing local talent, Houston-based vocalists Kam Franklin, Lisa Harris and Lucas Gorham will perform as back-up singers on many of the evening's hit songs.

Being the son of a rock legend has its highs and lows, but for Rolan Bolan, son of the late glam-rocker and T-Rex frontman Marc Bolan, one of the coolest things is hanging out with other members of his unique fraternity. He's jammed on the beach with Roy Orbison's sons Roy Jr. and Alex, hung out with Zoey Bonham(daughter of John Bonham and sister of Jason) and has had Planet and Sierra Swan, daughters of '70s pop singer Billy Swan, do backup vocals for him.

The Houston Symphony's October calendar has something for music lovers of all ages and backgrounds. Classical music enthusiasts will have an opportunity to come to both Jones Hall and Sugar Land Baptist Church to see the Symphony's Music Director Designate Andres Orozco-Estrada conduct the concert Midori Plays Mendelssohnfeaturing Japanese American violin superstar Midori on October 17-20. Then, on October 24, 26 and 27, the Symphony's newly appointed Principal Oboist Jonathan Fischer will take the solo spotlight in Mozart and Schumann to perform Mozart's tuneful Oboe Concerto.

Blue Note Jazz Club, the iconic Greenwich Village jazz and blues venue that offers live musical performances every night of the week, is proud to announce internationally-acclaimed jazz/soul chanteuse Nicole Henry for a month-long residency this November. This is the first time an artist will be in residency the Blue Note's Sunday Brunch shows for a full month, with Henry to perform two shows every Sunday in November at 12:30PM and 2:30PM.

The Colony Theatre is thrilled to present the West Coast Premiere of BREATH AND IMAGINATION: The Story of Roland Hayes, a true story by Daniel Beaty, directed by Saundra McClain, with Musical Direction by Rahn Coleman. BREATH AND IMAGINATION will preview on Wednesday, September 11; Thursday, September 12; and Friday, September 13 at 8:00pm and will open on Saturday, September 14 at 8:00pm and continue through Sunday, October 13.
