Human Nature Plays Apollo Theater's 80th Anniversary Spring Gala

Las Vegas headliners and Australian singing sensations Human Nature were part of musical history last night, Tuesday, June 10, as they took the stage during The Apollo Theater's Spring Gala, which celebrated 80 years of iconic performers and legendary performances. Departing from its tradition of inducting legends into the Apollo Hall of Fame, this year's Gala celebrated the eight decades of artistic brilliance that have been presented on the Apollo stage since 1934. Human Nature represented the Motown era during the star studded event, performing a 15-minute hit bound set featuring tracks such as “My Girl”, “Ooh Baby Baby” and “Ain't No Mountain High Enough.” The event was hosted by Emmy Award-winning and Grammy nominated entertainer Wayne Brady.

Michael Cerveris, Isaiah Johnson, Randy Newman, Laura Osnes, Vonda Shepard, Brooklyn Shuck, Tony Vincent and Broadway Inspirational Voices have been cast in Randy Newman's Faust: The Concert, which will be performed on July 1 as the second Encores! Off-Center presentation of the 2014 season. Faust will be directed by Thomas Kail and choreographed by Marcos Santana. Jeanine Tesori is the Encores! Off-Center artistic director; Chris Fenwick is its music director.

When award-winning vocalist Mimi J. sought to develop a one-woman show about the women of soul who influenced her, she immediately turned to her good friend, Carbonell-nominated director/choreographer Kevin Black. They tossed around a number of ideas, but they kept coming back to the music of the 70s - music they both love. Together they came up with the concept, the title, and the song choices for On the Radio: Sounds of the 70s.

The 68th Annual Tony Awards will be televised live from New York City's Radio City Music Hall on Sunday June 8th from 8-11 P.M. (ET/PT time delay) on CBS in the U.S. and internationally to over thirty countries including Japan (WOWOW), Australia (Foxtel), New Zealand (Sky), Philippines (ABS-CBN), Canada (CHCH) and on Pramer Film & Arts throughout South and Central America and the Caribbean and via AFN to American servicemen worldwide. Early KISS Producer Kenny Kerner Dies at 66

Noted music producer/manager/journalist/educator Kenny Kerner, who was instrumental in the early career of iconic rock band KISS and whose credits include gold and platinum awards for Gladys Knight & the Pips and Stories, has died. He was found on May 27, 2014, at his home in Northridge, California. Kerner had suffered from diabetes. He was 66.
