The cast of the Tony Award-winning revival of HAIR met with the show's most enthusiastic fanson line for free tickets today, July 5, dressed in hippie garb to celebrate its return to Broadway for a limited 10-week only 'Summer of Love' run. To honor fans, the Tony Award-winning production returned to its free theatre roots by giving away tickets to the first 100 fans in line at the St. James Theatre box office. HAIR first played on Broadway in the 60s and it was, without question, one of my very favorite musicals. I saw it three times. I recall that the then New York Times critic Clive Barnes was quoted as saying 'If you Have One Musical To See, Make it HAIR.' His quote was pretty close to that, anyway. I don't think I agreed with Mr. Barnes then, but HAIR is surely a joyous musical, full of memorable songs, and a 'tribe' of performers you simply want to be part of.

Reprise Theatre Company presents Barbara Cook in Concert. It will have one performance only on Monday, May 16 at 8:00 pm, at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. Barbara Cook in Concert is the latest in Reprise Theatre Company's tradition of presenting Broadway stars and legendary entertainers in concert, which have included Patti LuPone, Carol Burnett, Sutton Foster, Ben Vereen, Kristin Chenoweth, and Brian Stokes Mitchell.

According to published reports, as part of The Bushnell Theatre's 2011 season, the national tour of HAIR will play from April 26 through May 11. The tour of Tony award-winning revival has been directed by Diane Paulus with choreography by Karole Armitage.
