Today we are talking to a spectacularly talented triple threat who has made a prominent name for himself on Broadway in numerous notable roles over the last two decades, 2015 Tony Award nominee Max von Essen. Discussing all aspects of his integral role in the celebrated new stage adaptation of classic movie musical AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, von Essen opens up about what the part means to him and his influence on its development from its early roots at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris to its opening on Broadway earlier this year. Additionally, von Essen shares his extreme enthusiasm for receiving a 2015 Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor In A Musical for his performance in the dynamic and dazzling musical spectacular, while also offering his affection for his fellow nominees in the cast and on the production team. Besides all of that, von Essen shares how his own life experiences have shaded his complex and moving characterization of his performance and the intrinsic part his own coming out has had in shaping his detailed and thoughtful acting work as well as breaks down the various elements that combine to create one of the most unforgettable showstoppers in a musical positively packed with them, the iconic 'Stairway To Paradise'. Kritzerland's Berlin to Rome's theme unintentionally became 'generations,' as the youngster and the senior stole the show from the others of the talented line-up of singing pros. 

All Dancing! All Singing! is the first Lyrics & Lyricists dance revue, celebrating Irving Berlin's contributions to Hollywood musicals. Artistic director/choreographer Randy Skinner directed a cast of hand-picked young vocalists/dancers -- Darien Crago, Danny Gardner, Drew Humphrey, Kristie Kerwin, Con O'Shea-Creal and Kristen Beth Williams -- who were joined by veterans Sandy Duncan and Don Correia as special guests and Broadwayworld was there. On April 27th, Words On Dance and Symphony Space presented Ballet to Broadway: Christopher Wheeldon with Rita Moreno, at the Peter J. Sharp Theater, just two weeks after the opening of Wheeldon's An American in Paris, on Broadway. The evening consisted of film clips interspersed with conversation. Oddly, it was the films we saw 1st, followed by words. It was Moreno who was to interview Wheeldon, although he occasionally turned the tables and asked questions of Moreno.

Theatre Development Fund, the not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts, will honor three of the organization's "Unsung Heroes" - Ted Chapin, Jeffrey Gural and Robert Zukerman at TDF's Gala on Monday, June 15 at the Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street).  TDF is honoring these "heroes," as they have assisted the organization in fulfilling its mission of supporting works of artistic merit and helping to make theatre accessible to all.

Lincoln Center Theater presents Rodgers & Hammerstein's The King and I, led by Kelli O'Hara (as Anna Leonowens) and Ken Watanabe (as the King of Siam), directed by Bartlett Sher.
