New Philharmonic, under the musical direction of Maestro Kirk Muspratt, opens 2020 with Franz Lehár's popular operetta a?oeThe Merry Widow,a?? featuring a libretto by Viktor Leon and Leo Stein, at the McAninch Arts Center. Due to the growing popularity of New Philharmonic's winter operas, a performance on Friday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. has been added to the regular two performance run. Other performances are Saturday, Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. This operetta, staged by Michael La Tour, will be sung in English. A free MAC Chat will take place one hour prior to each performance.

Other performances are Saturday, Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. Thisoperetta, staged by Michael La Tour, will be sung in English. The Royal Conservatory regrets to announce that American pianist Murray Perahia has had to cancel what would have been his Koerner Hall debut on May 1, during Koerner Hall's 10th anniversary season finale festival. A statement from his management reads, It is with great regret that Mr. Perahia has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming solo recitals in North America as a sudden medical setback has prevented him from performing publicly. Besides his date in Koerner Hall, Perahia has withdrawn from concerts at Carnegie Hall and Chicago's Symphony Center.

December 15, 2015 – Richmond, Virginia Join the Richmond Symphony, Music Director Steven Smith, and members from the Virginia Opera Herndon Foundation Emerging Artists Program for a special concert in the style of a Viennese New Year on Saturday, January 9 at 8pm and Sunday, January 10 at 3pm. A New Year in Vienna is a celebration filled with selected works including waltzes, polkas, and arias by Johann Strauss Jr., Franz Lehár, and Richard Strauss. This concert is part of the Altria Masterworks series and will be held at Richmond CenterStage's Carpenter Theatre.

Lyric Opera of Chicago presents the sparkling operetta The Merry Widow by Franz Lehár in a new-to-Chicago production to launch the holiday season. It opens on Saturday, November 14 with 10 performances through Sunday, December 13. Performance dates are November 14, 17, 20, 23, 25, 28 at 7:30pm; and December 3, 9, 11, and 13 at 2pm. Performances are in English with projected titles.

Tickets for Capitol City Opera Company's fully staged production of The Merry Widow are on sale now and can be purchased online at ccityopera.org or by phone at 678-301-8013. General admission tickets for the three performances of Franz Lehár's comic operetta are $40. Tickets for seniors, students and military with valid identification are $30. Until August 17, a special 2-for-1 discount off the $40 general admission price is available making the tickets just $20 each.
