Baruch Performing Arts Center (BPAC) & TGW Acting Studio present THE TAMING OF THE SHREW from July 10 - August 3, 2014, at the Rose Nagelberg Theatre & directed by THOMAS G. WAITES. Assistant to the director is Lisa Greenberg, Fight Choreographer is David Brimmer, with Set & Lighting Design by Jasmine Nicole Roberts, Costume Design by Rebecca Welles & Stage Management by Kayla Santos. Featured in the production will be live music by Juilliard Alumni.

The 52nd Street Project makes a difference in the lives of Hell's Kitchen (Clinton) kids by pairing them with theater professionals who mentor them through the creation of original theater. For its cornerstone acting program, the One-on-One series takes a group of ten Project kids out of town to a country retreat for a week in the summer. Each child is assigned a playwright who is charged to write a musical specifically for that child. The shows are rehearsed over the course of the week and performed informally for the community in the retreat setting. Upon returning to Manhattan, the plays are performed at the Project's Five Angels Theater (789 Tenth Avenue, 2nd floor, NYC), supported by professional designers and crews who volunteer their services.

The Wooster Group will present EARLY SHAKER SPIRITUALS: A RECORD ALBUM INTERPRETATION at The Performing Garage from today, May 17 through June 15, 2014. The newest Wooster Group work, EARLY SHAKER SPIRITUALS is a performance based on a 1976 LP of Shaker hymns, marches, anthems, and testimony recorded by Sister R. Mildred Barker and the sisters of the Shaker community in Sabbathday Lake, Maine.

Trinity Rep announced today that former artistic director and Academy-award nominated film, stage and TV actor Richard Jenkins and his wife Director/Choreographer Sharon Jenkins will be honored with the 2014 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts. The theater also announced that nationally known dance educator and choreographer Mary Paula Hunter will receive the 2014 Charles Sullivan Award for Distinguished Service in the Arts. The 18th annual Pell Awards will be held on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Trinity Rep with a reception to follow next door at the Providence Public Library.
