MCCC Theatre Student Productions Announce New Dates

Fine literature is the theme of the fall season for Theatre and Dance students at Mercer County Community College (MCCC), as students present memorable performances over three weekends in November and December. Shows take place at the Studio Theatre, located next to Kelsey Theatre on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. Entertainment Technology students will provide lighting and sound for all productions.

Producers Carole Black and Pat Mitchell present EMOTIONAL CREATURE, the new play written by Tony Award®-winning playwright, performer, activist, and The Vagina Monologues author Eve Ensler, will get a New York premiere this fall. Directed by Obie Award-winner Jo Bonney (By the Way, Meet Vera Stark) with original music and musical direction by Charl-Johan Lingenfelder, Emotional Creature will open on Monday, November 12, 2012, direct from an acclaimed World Premiere at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in California.

Hartford Stage, under the leadership of Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts, announced the lineup for Brand:NEW Fall Festival of New Works, scheduled today, October 25 - 28. Amandine, ten years in the making, is a collaboration between three of New York City's most distinctive theater artists: Winter Miller, 13P founding member who penned In Darfur (The Public Theater), among other acclaimed plays; Lance Horne, Emmy Award-winning composer and pianist known for his own work and collaborations with Alan Cumming, Amanda Palmer, Meow Meow, Sandra Bernhard and Justin Vivian Bond; and Drama Desk Award- winning director Josh Hecht (Christine Jorgensen Reveals), who specializes in new plays. Amandine is a singular love story, inspired by the incredible memoirs of Herculine Barbin, a 19th century intersex person who was raised a girl and died a man. The ensemble cast includes Broadway veterans Lea DeLaria, Nathan Lee Graham and Alexandra Silber, in a world premiere at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street) main stage January 8-26, 2013.
