Despite criticisms that this Layeta Bucoy-penned play was loosely based on its celluloid inspiration, Philippine Educational Theater Association's BONA still gratuitously provokes and disturbs its audience.

Feature film production companies Unitel Productions ("Crying Ladies"), Studio 5 ("Rosario"), multi-award winning screenwriter, film director Chris Martinez ("The Woman in the Septic Tank," "100"), and prolific stage, television, and film music composer, arranger Vincent de Jesus ("Care Divas," "Crying Ladies") join forces to create the groundbreaking movie musical "I Do Bidoo Bidoo: Heto nAPO Sila," which explores four interwoven love stories inspired by 17 songs popularized by the APO Hiking Society, a trio made up of Original Pilipino Music (OPM)luminaries Jim Paredes, Boboy Garovillo, and Danny Javier.

Among the most memorable musical films that have featured international music icons's discography, ACROSS THE UNIVERSE(2007), which showcases the popular songs of The Beatles, and MAMMA MIA!(2008), which features the hit songs of ABBA, were instant favorites. On the local front, the Philippines has I DO BIDOO BIDOO: HETO nAPO SILA, which headlines the immortal songs of the legendary trio of the APO Hiking Society, comprised of Jim Paredes, Boboy Garovillo, and Danny Javier. Produced by film outfits Studio 5 and Unitel, and directed by Chris Martinez, I DO BIDOO BIDOO opened last Wednesday, August 29.

Philippine Educational Theater Association's (PETA) stage adaptation of the late Filipino film auteur Lino Brocka's "Bona," starring award-winning film actors Eugene Domingo and Edgar Allan Guzman, written by Palanca winner Layeta Bucoy, and directed by theater stalwart Soxie Topacio, opened last Thursday, August 23 at the PETA Theater Center.

A past entry to both Metro Manila Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival, BONA, a critically-acclaimed work of Catalino Ortiz Brocka aka Lino Brocka (1939-1991) that gave the "superstar in Philippine entertainment industry," Nora Aunor, her Best Actress trophy at the Gawad Urian in 1980, will soon come alive through a stage adaptation by Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) starting today, August 24 until Sunday, September 23 at PETA Theater Center. The stage production stars multi-award-winning theater, movie, and television actress Eugene Domingo.

Award-winning film actors Eugene Domingo and Edgar Allan Guzman, who are currently in the thick of rehearsals for Philippine Educational Theater Association's (PETA) new production of BONA, a stage adaptation of the critically-acclaimed motion picture of the same name, directed by the late Filipino film auteur Lino Brocka, met members of the press and performed excerpts from the play on Tuesday, August 14 at PETA Theater Center.

The University of the Philippines' Department of English and Comparative Literature, in cooperation with the World Theatre Project, presents 'Screen: Macbeth' at the Media Center Studio, College of Mass Communication, University of the Philippines' Diliman campus from Monday, February 28 to Saturday, March 5, 2011.
