New York Stage and Film held its Annual Winter Gala last night, December 4, 2011 at The Plaza Hotel (770 Fifth Avenue, New York City). Honored at this year's ceremony was Academy Award nominee and winner of multiple Tony and Emmy Awards, actor Christopher Plummer; Artistic Director of the Cherry Lane Theatre, Angelina Fiordellisi and producer/writer/director Matt Williams (Principal, Wind Dancer Films). Next up in its continuing series Dark Nights, The New Group presents Hamlet at Home, with readings from Shakespeare's Hamlet featuring Lisa Emery, Mamie Gummer, Josh Hamilton and Wallace Shawn, directed by Scott Elliott.

The New Group proudly announces casting for the second show in the company's 2011-2012 Season: Russian Transport, written by Erika Sheffer. Directed by Scott Elliott, the production will feature Janeane Garofalo, Daniel Oreskes, Morgan Spector, Sarah Steele and Raviv Ullman. Performances slated to begin January 17 at The New Group @ Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street). Official Opening Night is set for Monday, January 30.

Comedian, film and TV star Janeane Garofalo has just joined the New Group's production of Russian Transport by Erika Sheffer, directed by Scott Elliott. The production's run begins on January 17, 2012 at the Acorn Theater, with tickets on sale December 5th.

Variety reports that actor John Cusack will be joining the cast of THE NUMBERS STATION, which will be directed by Kasper Barfoed. Cusack will co-star with Malin Ackerman in the action thriller, playing a 'disgraced black-ops agent tasked with a deadend job of protecting a code operator (Ackerman) for an isolated covert CIA broadcast station.'
