The Atlanta Shakespeare Company at The Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse is set to present William Wycherley’s Restoration comedy, The Country Wife from April 16th through May 1, 2022. Tickets for the production, which is directed by John Ammerman, are $15 for the General Admission preview on Thursday, April 14th, and $20 for the General Admission preview on Friday, April 15th.

Kai and a time-traveling talisman together create a theatrical tour-de-force in an impressionistic, free-associating series of narrative vignettes written by Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright, Jordan Harrison (Marjorie Prime, Maple, and Vine).

Marietta Theatre Company will launch the new theater's inaugural season with Forever Plaid, a story of four friends with a passion for music, from August 18 - September 2 at Lyric Studio on the Square. The Last Five Years, First Date, The Marvelous Wonderettes and [title of show] will round out the debut 2017/2018 season.

The Encore Players stage ON THE VERGE; OR THE GEOGRAPHY OF YEARNING on February 10, 11 and 12 at the Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center.

The 69th Annual TONY AWARDS, presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, will take place on June 7 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of The Country House, the new play by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies, directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan, and produced in association with the Geffen Playhouse, starts the final two weeks of its run today at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

New York City is approximately 500 miles from Cleveland. People from the North Coast often make the trek there to partake in the shopping, dining, but most often, the theatre. In order to keep the locals abreast of the Great White Ways offerings, I review some of the shows. Here is a sampling of what's new on Broadway.

Manhattan Theatre Club just presented its Fall Benefitlast night, honoring longtime MTC collaborator, Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan. The evening featured appearances by some of Broadway's biggest names: Danny Burstein (The Snow Geese), Raul Esparza (The Homecoming), Boyd Gaines (The Columnist), Heather MacRae who appeared in the 1968 production of Hair which Sullivan served as assistant director,Frances McDormand (Good People), Cynthia Nixon (Rabbit Hole), friend and colleague Jack O'Brien, Mary-Louise Parker(Proof), and David Hyde Pierce (Accent on Youth). The new film of BIRDMAN or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance is a black comedy that tells the story of an actor (Michael Keaton) - famous for portraying an iconic superhero - as he struggles to mount a Broadway play. In the days leading up to opening night, he battles his ego and attempts to recover his family, his career, and himself. To celebrate the film, a screening was held on Monday night for members of the Broadway community. (The film's Broadway scenes were shot at the St. James Theatre).
