Encore Players to Present ON THE VERGE This Weekend, 2/10 - 2/12
This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the Encore Players present ON THE VERGE; OR THE GEOGRAPHY OF YEARNING at the Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center.
ON THE VERGE; OR THE GEOGRAPHY OF YEARNING premiered in 1985. The script makes extensive use of esotEric Language and pop culture references from the late nineteenth century to 1955. The cast consist of three Victorian women explorers and eight diverse beings (played by one actor) they encounter on their travels, which include different times as well as different locations.
ON THE VERGE follows the adventures of the explorers into what they believe to be Terra Incognita, a new, unexplored land. The three are from very different exploration backgrounds, but all exhibit their own form of independence. The three together discuss many aspects of their pasts in exploring.
Morgan Midkiff directs the play, written by Eric Overmyer, for the award-winning community theatre.
