Nominees for the 16th Costume Designers Guild Awards, which celebrate excellence in film, television and commercial costume design, were announced today.

The Costume Designers Guild announced the nominees for its 16th annual awards today, January 8 2014. Nominations were unveiled for film, TV and commercial categories.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts announced the nominations for the 2014 EE British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) and Gravity leads with 11 nominations, while 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle each received 10 nominations.

The Tony Awards telecast took home four Emmys including Outstanding Special Class Program, Outstanding Musical Direction and Outstanding Musics and Lyrics for 'If I Had Time' with lyrics by Adam Schlesinger and music by David Javerbaum.

On Saturday, July 27th, the Television Academy's Costume Design & Supervision Peer Group honored the 65th Primetime Emmy Award Nominees for Outstanding Costumes with a special reception that also launched the FIDM Museum & Galleries seventh annual presentation of 'The Outstanding Art of Television Costume Design' featuring over 120 costumes from over 15 featured shows. Among those in attendance included nominated Behind the Candelabra Costume Designer Ellen Mirojnick, along with the exhibit's featured Costume Designers from House of Cards, Rectify, SMASH and 2 Broke Girls plus special guests. The opportunities and challenges facing motion picture costume designers working in the current era of digital technology will be explored at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' program, 'Costume Design in the Digital Age,' on Friday, April 24, at 8 p.m. at the Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood. The evening will be hosted by Oscar-nominated costume designer Dr. Deborah Nadoolman Landis and Academy Governor Bill Taylor.
