Calling all furry four legged stars! Does your friendly, charismatic dog have what it takes to shine on CBC's new live reality competition series, OVER THE RAINBOW? The nationwide auditions for Dorothy are underway and the search for Toto will be held in Toronto on June 9th at Woofstock, North America's largest festival for dogs. Taking place in the St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood, registration will be from 9:00 am to noon, followed by live auditions throughout the day.

CBC launches nationwide search for Dorothy on June 1, to appear on CBC Television's OVER THE RAINBOW and star in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Canadian production of The Wizard of Oz, as reported in BWW yesterday. Further details about the show have been announced.

The CBC will be casting Dorothy in an Andrew Lloyd Webber production of THE WIZARD OF OZ via a live TV show, Over the Rainbow. Auditions begin in June, and the show will mount in December, according to 680news.com.

Two-time Golden Globe® winner, Academy Award® & Tony Award® nominee Kathleen Turner returns to Toronto in the National Tour of Matthew Lombardo's play HIGH, tonight, May 8 through May 13, 2012, at The Royal Alexandra Theatre. Directed by Rob Ruggiero, HIGH also features Evan Jonigkeit as "Cody Randall" and Timothy Altmeyer as "Father Michael Delpapp".

Bring it On: The Musical wraps up its current tour in Toronto next month, opening May 3rd at the newly named Ed Mirvish Theatre. BWW spoke with Tony Award Winning composer Tom Kitt about what it was like working with fellow Tony Award Winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, composing for cheerleaders and how we can engage young people in the arts.

The 2012-2013 Mirvish season was unveiled Monday morning, and it features the world premiere of Honeymoon in Vegas, an all Canadian cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Wizard of Oz, Book of Mormon and more. The 2012-2013 Mirvish Production season announcement took place this morning, and features the World Premiere of Jason Robert Brown's Honeymoon in Vegas, an all-Canadian cast for Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's The Wizard of Oz and the smash-hit Book of Mormon. Members of the media, subscribers and eager theatre lovers filled the Ed Mirvish Theatre to hear the announcement, which also included La Cage Aux Folles, Sister Act and Backbeat plus the pre-Broadway run of Flashdance and the directorial debut of Colm Wilkinson in Bloodless.

On December 6th The Canon Theatre was officially renamed The Ed Mirvish Theatre in honour of theatre impresario Ed Mirvish. Many of Canada's best and brightest talent were on hand for this historic occasion, where David Mirvish paid tribute to his father in a loving and moving ceremony. December 6th marked a historic day for both the city of Toronto and its theatre community as The Canon Theatre was renamed in honour of theatre impresario Ed Mirvish. Stars of Canadian theatre were on hand to pay homage to the man who spent the better part of fifty years giving Toronto wonderful theatre, and now the city says thank you with the unveiling of this landmark in his honour.

In 1994, Ted and Richard formed Talking Fingers, and under this company name first workshopped 2 Pianos 4 Hands at the Tarragon Theatre, with generous support from the Ontario Arts Council. Tarragon Theatre subsequently programmed the show as part of its 1995-1996 season, where it garnered rave reviews, played a sold-out run, received the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding Production (Toronto's theatre awards) and the prestigious Chalmers Award (Canada's top playwriting award). Tarragon Theatre then toured the production nationally from May 1996 to September 1997.
