Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theatre company, will present the world premiere of House for Sale by Jonathan Franzen, adapted for the stage and directed by Daniel Fish, beginning previews October 13, 2012 at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street project. The opening night is scheduled for October 21, 2012. House for Sale is scheduled to run through November 18, 2012.

The Broadway musical SISTER ACT will play its final Broadway performance today, Sunday, August 26, 2012, prior to kicking off a North American tour on October 2 at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre. Upon closing after a 16-month run, the Broadway production will have played 28 previews and 561 performances at the Broadway Theatre. Beck Center for the Arts rolls out its 2012/2013 Professional Theater season with the first locally produced premiere of Xanadu, the award-winning Broadway hit musical based on the Universal Pictures' cult classic movie of the same title, which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly. Xanadu runs on the Mackey Main Stage September 14 through October 14, 2012.

Pantochino Productions Inc, Connecticut's non-profit theatre company, has announced the cast of its first Pantochino After-Dark production, "The Little Dog Laughed." The comedy will be performed at Arts Hall in New Haven, October 5 -12.

After a successful run at The Secret Rose Theatre in NoHo, Blazeco Productions' acclaimed staging of Douglas Carter Beane's Tony Award-nominated comedy The Little Dog Laughed reopens tonight, August 17 and runs through September 16 at Zephyr Theatre, 7456 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood.

Tennessee Repertory Theatre announced plans for REPaloud, the popular play reading series. The first staged reading of the 2012-13 season will be the classic drama A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry. There comes a moment in Xanadu-the deliciously campy musical theater confection that is based on the unintentionally campy 1980s movie of the same name-when the Greek muse Calliope suggests that "it's just like children's theater for 40-year-old gay people" (or words to that effect) which perfectly captures the show's charm and unfailing appeal for audiences of every conceivable ilk and for one theater critic, in particular.
