The Dramatists Guild of America, the national association of playwrights, composers and lyricists, announced today that Guild president Stephen Schwartz is stepping down after six years in office. 

Back by popular demand, Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) invites you to take a trip back under the sea for the return engagement of Disney's The Little Mermaid! This fun-filled, timeless tale will play for five performances only September 10 - 13 at The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.

This just in! La Jolla Playhouse has announced the cast and creative team for its season opener, the world-premiere musical Come from Away, featuring book, music and lyrics by the Canadian husband-and-wife team Irene Sankoff and David Hein (My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding), directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley. A co-production with Seattle Repertory Theatre, Come from Away will run May 29 - July 5 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre (press opening Thursday, June 11).

Bay Street Theater has announced changes to the 2015 Mainstage Season including a special added production. Both new plays are East Coast premieres!

The Playwrights Horizons world premiere of IOWA, a new musical play written by Susan Smith Blackburn Prize finalist Jenny Schwartz (God's Ear, Somewhere Fun), music by Todd Almond (Stage Kiss at PH, Kansas City Choir Boy, The Tempest, On the Levee) and lyrics by Mr. Almond and Ms. Schwartz, opens tonight, April 13, 2015.

California Musical Theatre announced the 2015-16 Broadway Sacramento season at the Community Center Theater, featuring six shows not previously presented on the series, two of which were produced in the round at Music Circus but never before part of Broadway Sacramento.

The NYU Tisch School of the Arts annual gala honoring Michael C. Hall, Steven Lutvak and Robert L. Freedman, with a special tribute to Mel Silverman, will be held on Monday, May 4, at the Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall.

Bay Street Theater announces a change in the second play, OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY, for the 2015 Mainstage Summer Season. Jason Alexander was previously announced to star in the show, but had to withdraw from his role since he will be taking over for Larry David in FISH IN THE DARK on Broadway. Bay Street Theater wishes Jason all the best on his Broadway run. More information about the second play of the Mainstage Season will be announced soon.

?Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) Artistic Director Barbara Gaines and Executive Director Criss Henderson announce today the line-up of the 2015/16 Season, including innovative reimaginings of the classical canon, new work developed at CST and the first installment of Gaines' ambitious Shakespeare history cycle. Anticipating Shakespeare 400, the international celebration of the playwright's four-hundred-year legacy in 2016, the season honors Shakespeare's spirit of inventiveness and audacity.

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce Curtain Up!, Bay Street's 4th Annual Spring Benefit honoring Patty and Jay Baker, and Barbara Slifka at Joe's Pub in New York City on May 4. The theater's fourth honors event will be hosted by Bay Street's Artistic Director, Scott Schwartz.

Performances begin tonight, Friday, March 20 and run through Sunday, April 12. Press night is scheduled for Opening Night Friday, March 27. Appropriate for ages 17 +. As a concert production, there will be no live nudity, though documentary photographs of the original production will be projected.

The Emerald Theatre Company at Theatre Works is currently showcasing not one, not two, not three - but nine pieces in its latest production, STANDING ON CEREMONY: THE GAY MARRIAGE PLAYS.
