The Seacoast Repertory Theatre will take its audiences on a musical pilgrimage through the American South in Violet, the award-winning story of a young woman's search for healing on a bus trip that takes her to places she didn't expect.

For the 2016-2017 no 'shrinking violet' opening of the Cabot Theatre Stage, Skylight Music Theatre presents the 1997 award-winning musical, Violet. Set in the mid 1960's, the Broadway Theatre Center production relates to a young woman's journey when her father accidentally disfigured her face and left a traumatic facial scar amid the burgeoning civil rights movement and beginnings of the Vietnam war. When Violet travels from North Carolina to Oklahoma carrying her dream and hope that a faith healer will remove the scar, the young Southern woman encounters various people on her Greyhound bus ride to remind the audience life's miracles arise in multiple forms when the heart opens the eyes and mind and removes the mundane from the material world.

Germantown Community Theatre has announced the slate of productions for their 2016-2017 season. This marks the 45th season of shows the theatre has produced from their home in Germantown, TN. The season blends music, theatre for youth, classic literature and raucous fun. 

The summer teen theatre programs at Raleigh Little Theatre and PlayMakers Repertory Company prepare the next generation of theatre professionals while producing outstanding performances of 'Bay Boy' and 'Violet.'

A cast of student actors from 14 Triangle-area schools will perform the award-winning Broadway musical "Violet" July 20-31 for the PlayMakers Summer Youth Conservatory (SYC). High school actors began work on the production June 20, with their backstage counterparts starting technical training last week.
