Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie to Premiere AGAINST NATURE, Today

TORONTO (APRIL 11, 2016)  - Acclaimed Toronto-based Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie (CLC) proudly presents the world premiere of Against Nature (À Rebours), directed and choreographed by the renowned James Kudelka, who won the 2015 Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding Choreography for#lovesexbrahms. Inspired by a book of the same name by Joris-Karl Huysmans (1848 -1907), Against Natureexplores the beauty and perils of isolation and opens at The Citadel today, May 5, running through to May 15.

The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) today announced the date, creative team, host and venue for the 37th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the awards show and party that celebrates extraordinary Toronto talent in the performing arts. Dora Awards Producer Jacoba Knaapen announced that the much-anticipated event will take place on Monday, June 27 and that it will, for the third time in a row, be held under the stars at Harbourfront Centre. Tickets go on sale May 31.

Canadian Opera Company Celebrates Financial, Artistic Success of Latest Season

Toronto – Today at the Canadian Opera Company's Annual General Meeting, COC Board Chair Tony Arrell and COC General Director Alexander Neef reported on the financial and artistic successes of the 2014/2015 season. With an acclaimed season of operas, the COC maintained its impressive attendance numbers, recording an average attendance of 92%, as well as retained last year's historic-level of fundraising with contributed revenue totaling $12.6 million and posted a balanced budget, to show a modest surplus of $13,000.

Titled La Reine-Garçon, the libretto is by Quebec playwrightMichel Marc Bouchard and based on his play of the same name. Inspired by Queen Christina of Sweden who ruled the country in the 17th century before abdicating her throne at the age of 27, La Reine-Garçonis currently in development and is scheduled to have its world premiere in the COC's 2019/2020 season.
